Chat Room Terms and Conditions |

By registering or participating in
the Unexplained Mysteries chat rooms you
accept and agree to the following terms and conditions. Our goal
is to provide a high quality chat environment for our
visitors, these terms are in place to prevent disruption and
maintain a safe and friendly chat room service. |
|
|
|
Never give your password or login
name to anyone else or allow others to use your account. |
|
|
|
1. No spamming |
|
Chat room spam includes any
of the following: |
|
1a. Advertising:
Do not advertise or promote other web sites, books, products,
media releases or services. |
|
|
|
1b. Recruitment:
Do not recruit site visitors in to joining other web sites, forums or
groups,
request participation in surveys,
petitions, contests, protests, political campaigns, fund raisers or money making schemes. |
|
|
|
1c. Room "flooding":
Do not "flood" the chat room. Flooding involves disrupting the
room for other participants by intentionally filling up the
screen with text, emoticons, sounds or anything else which
detracts from the ability of others to hold a conversation. |

|
|
2. Chat
content |
|
Please read and understand the following
before using the chat: |

2a.
Offensive material: Do not write comments containing
crude sexual references, innuendo or that refer to or imply
violence either in general or towards other chat users. Do not
post links to material containing
pornography, gore, excessive violence, sexually explicit content, images
of death or other overly graphic material. Remember that we have visitors
of all ages, comments should be as 'family friendly' as possible. |

2b. Illegal material:
References to taking, buying, growing or selling drugs, the
promotion or use of weapons, plans to or descriptions of
participation in hacking, downloading pirated material or other
criminal acts are strictly disallowed. |
|
|
|
2c. Private content:
Do not copy and paste the content of private
messages, e-mails or the personal contact details of other members. This also applies to the contact
details, e-mails etc. of non-members and to other offline
correspondences. The content of private correspondences sent by site
visitors or members of staff via private messenger or through e-mail are
copyrighted to the sender and should not be reproduced, published or
distributed outside of this web site through any means without prior
written permission from the copyright holder. |

2d. Language:
As this is an English speaking site we ask
that our members write only in English.
Mobile phone shorthand, fictional languages and "leetspeak" are
disallowed. |

|
|
2e. Medical advice:
Do not use the chat room to request or give
out medical advice, if you have any concerns over your health
you should always seek the advice of your doctor. |
|
|
|
2f. Preaching:
Do not promote or push your beliefs on to
others, we have visitors from all over the world of many
different faiths and we ask that all beliefs be respected.
Similarly, do not use the room to push an agenda or to 'educate'
others on your own views or ideas, we ask that users be allowed
to make up their own minds on what to or not to believe. |

2g. Plagiarism:
Do not copy and paste other people's
material in to the chat room and pass it off as your own words,
if you are quoting from an external source always specify where
it originated. |
|
|
|
3. Behaviour |
|
Any of the following constitutes
unacceptable behaviour: |

3a.
Racism or
hatred:
Do not write racist or
hate-driven comments or views which express hatred towards or
discriminate against any specific race, religion, country, gender,
individual or group. |
|
|
|
3b.
Harassment: Do not harrass,
defame, threaten, bully or victimise other members. |
|
|
|
3c.
Profanity: Do not use profanity,
crude, vulgar language or attempt to intentionally bypass the profanity
filter. |
|
|
|
3d.
Abusive behaviour: Do not be
rude, insulting, offensive, snide, obnoxious or abusive towards other
members. Do not make deliberately inflammatory comments or 'bait' other
members in to making reciprocal attacks. |
|
|
|
3e. Suggestive behaviour:
Do not write sexually suggestive comments,
innuendo or engage in inapropriate sexually oriented personal exchanges
or harassment; purely personal correspondences should always be kept
private. First and foremost this site is intended for discussion on
topical subjects, the services provided should not be used as a means
with which to seek out or pursue intimate relationships; bringing up
personal relationships, disputes or engaging in competitive, possessive,
disruptive or inapropriate behaviour in that regard is disallowed. |

3f.
Chat room groups/gangs: The
formation or promotion of organised groups, clans or gangs is
disallowed, as are organised attempts to harrass other members, disrupt
discussions or enforce a certain viewpoint in any way that prevents fair
and unbiased discussion. |
|

|
3g.
Role-playing:
Do not use the chat room to
'role-play' as a fictitious character or supernatural entity. |
|
|
| 4. Etiquette |
| In the interests of
maintaining a friendly chat environment, please avoid the
following: |
| 4a. Use
the correct room: Please use the
appropriate room depending on what you want to talk about e.g. if you
are looking to chat about non-paranormal related topics please use the
off-topic room and not the topical room. If you use the incorrect room a
chat moderator may ask you to move to a room to which that subject is
better suited. |

| 4b.
Shouting: Do not write in all
uppercase letters, writing in this manner is considered "shouting" and
makes what you are saying difficult to read as well as looking unsightly
and being annoying to other users. |

| 4c.
Spelling and grammar:
Do not criticise other users on their
spelling, grammar or punctuation. |
| |
| 5.
Moderator action |
| The Unexplained Mysteries
chat room is a
privately owned service and as such we reserve the right to deny access
to or take any action necessary against anyone whose behaviour we deem
to be inappropriate, offensive or intentionally disruptive. |

| By using the chat room service
you agree to the following: |
| 5a.
Compliance: You agree to
co-operate with the requests of our site staff should you be asked to
stop doing something that they deem to be disruptive, inappropriate or in
violation of the terms of service. |
| |
| 5b.
Protest: You agree not to attack,
harrass, threaten
or become abusive towards any member of staff. Members who become offensive or participate in
harassing, threatening or retaliatory action against the site or a member of staff
will be subject to further action. All our moderators are volunteers who
give up their own free time to keep the site a safe and friendly place,
please treat them with the respect that they deserve. |

| 5c.
Appeal: If you disagree with
action taken against your account by a member of staff you can appeal
the decision by contacting either the member of staff who took said
action or an administrator privately via e-mail or through our private
message system. Please do not use chat room to criticise or
complain about
moderator actions, to discuss member bans or to start a petition or
protest against any action that has been taken. |

| 5d.
Access: If your access or posting
rights have been revoked, do not register more accounts in order to
circumvent this restriction or have another member post or deliver
messages on your behalf. Accounts that we find belong to previously
banned members will also be banned. |

| Unexplained Mysteries reserves the
right to change or add to these terms and conditions at any time without
prior notice, and in any situation
the decision of an Administrator is final. |
