Into The Great Cosmic Void - Chapter Thirteen

Still surrounded by the pin-point lights, Cloney asks, “What are these strange lights, Zerak?      “I don’t know. They’re all around us, but they don’t seem to be doing any harm. They’re like tiny stars.”      “They are the portents of the Values,” Zarkor says, still in his trance. “They will guide us safely to the Depository. Within their enclosure we are hidden from the guards.”      Our three heroes glide on. As they approached ever closer to the mysterious glow ahead, Cloney e

Into The Great Cosmic Void - Chapter Twelve

Our three heroes drift ever closer to the apparition that is the Depository of the Values. Suddenly, Zarkor’s Safety Cube stops in mid drift. Zerak and Cloney in their Safety Cubes drift ahead a short distance before they realize Zarkor has halted.   They maneuver their Cubes back to Zarkor’s side. “What’s wrong, Zarkor?” Zerak asks. “Why did you stop? Is there danger ahead?”   Zarkor, coming slightly out of his trance, replies mechanically, “There is confusion. I am receivin

The Void - A Short Intermission

For those interested, sorry I haven’t posted the next Chapter of the Void story yet. I’ve been busy with other projects and stuff. Well, I say “projects” because it sounds important, but in reality I’ve just not been in the right state of mind, and have been busy improving my house and being lazy and distracted. I have some other excuses, but that’s enough for now. The other thing is, I’ve got to come up with an idea of what happens next in the story. I like to think that the author always kno

Into The Great Cosmic Void - Chapter Eleven

Zarkor in his telepathic trance in the Control Room continues to stare blankly into empty space without any sign of movement. “What are we to do?” Cloney asks Zerak in dismay. “I guess we’ll just have to wait until Zarkor takes control of things, or rather the Values in the Depository take control of Zarkor,” Zerak replies, watching Zarkor carefully. “I don’t like this,” Cloney says anxiously. “I wish something would happen and at the same time I hope nothing happens.” Finally, the inactivity

“I think at last Computer has got something!” Zerak exclaims. “There’s some kind of communication coming through!” Our three intrepid heroes gather around the com. “Hello? Hello? Is there anybody in there?” A soft voice comes through the speakers. “Yes, yes, we’re in here!” Zerak shouts. “Are you the one wrapped around our ship? Who are you?” “Why, I’m a Value, of course!” Comes back the answer, rather surprised. “A Value? What’s a Value?” Zerak asks, glancing nervously at Zarkor. “What’s a

Into The Great Cosmic Void - Chapter Nine

As Zerak, Zarkor and Cloney watch the View Screen intently at the great blackness of the Cosmic Nothingness of the Void, suddenly the screen turns white. The three, startled, drift back in amazement. “What’s happening?!” Zarkor exclaims. “Fix the resolution, Zerak! Stupid Computer is messing up again! I’ll have to give it a good talking to! This time it won’t get away with just a scolding!” Zerak, at the controls, says, “It’s not Computer, Zarkor. There’s something attached to our ship! That’s

Into The Great Cosmic Void - Chapter Eight

“Well, that was interesting,” Zerak says, drifting away from the View Screen. “Yeah,” Zarkor agrees, “like we almost died because of those stupid Zavorians! Pretty interesting, alright. I don’t know why you wanted to enter that Hub Station, Zerak. You always do things without thinking first. My infallible intuition told me it would come to no good!” Zerak is about to make a caustic comment when Cloney enters the Control Room. “Where were you guys?!” He asks in dismay. “I woke up from my nap an

Still debating with the three Zavorians in the ramshackle Hub Station, Zarkor continues the conversation, “This is stupid, Zerak,” Zarkor says in disgust. He faces the Zavorians. “Zavorians, we’re not going into no Meditation Room for no Epiphany! This is all a big con, isn’t it? You’re not Cosmic at all! This is just a clever ruse! Anything Cosmic wouldn’t have candy bar wrappers and crumpled soda cans strewn all over the place! Not even the quality soda products! It’s all rubbish! I mean, loo

Still in the Control Room, Zarkor is nervously bobbing back and forth occasionally glancing at the Viewscreen. Finally he stops and faces Zerak. “Zerak, I have to tell you something.” “Yes, what is it?” Asks Zerak, who has been studying the ship’s navigation controls. “Well, see, there is another reason why I’m interested in investigating this Great Cosmic Void. See, I had a telepathic message in a dream.” Zerak turns to Zarkor. “A telepathic message?” “Yeah, ”Zarkor says a little shyly. “S

Into The Great Cosmic Void - Chapter Five

Our heroic friends in their long journey are now beginning to enter the outskirts of the Great Cosmic Void, being pulled along by some mysterious knot of positive energy. Zarkor and Cloney are now back in the Control Room with Zerak, bleakly peering at the empty Viewscreen. “This is stupid,” Zarkor says. “It’s been hours and still nothing!” “You’re not loosing faith, are you Zarkor?” Zerak asks. “There’s still something pulling us toward it. There must be something out there. Well, Nothing is

Into The Great Cosmic Void - Chapter Four

I must admit, this chapter is long, mostly tedious to read absurd rubbish, but it does stall for time as our friends hurtle fearlessly to their ultimate destination, whatever that may be. I mean, adventures are mostly just trudging along with only occasional exciting bits, right? Chapter Four Zarkor and Zerak’s Lightship travels farther and farther toward The Great Cosmic Void. Leaving the web of galaxies behind, a vast nothingness surrounds them and they feel isolated from the rest of the Un

Into The Great Cosmic Void - Chapter Three

As Zerak anxiously studies the Viewscreen, he soon realizes it is not a ship that is fast approaching, it is a bright blob of light. As the glowing orb grows brighter, Zerak, Zarkor and Cloney drift away from the Viewscreen in fear. “Zarkor!” Zerak shouts, “Man the Death Ray! If this thing attacks, we’ll vaporize it into oblivion!” Zarkor quickly drifts to the powerful weapon’s control panel. “Ready, Zarkor?!” Zerak calls out as the radiant blob of light approaches ominously. “Yes…err…not

Into The Great Cosmic Void - Chapter Two

As the story continues, our three heroes in their Lightship are just now leaving their home galaxy on their way to the distant Great Cosmic Void. After a leisurely breakfast, Zarkor and Zerak are in the Observation Dome of their ship, a hundred billion suns burning fiercely above them. “The stars, Zerak,” Zarkor says in wonder, looking at the galaxy spread out above him in all its glory and magnificence. “Soon we’ll leave all this behind us as our long journey continues. One last look.” Zerak

Into The Great Cosmic Void - Chapter One

Zarkor and Zerak are resting comfortably in the living room of their home on Zerak’s private planet. Gazing contentedly out of the window onto the green and pleasant garden, Zarkor begins the conversation: “Zerak, did you ever notice that there seems to be more evil in the universe than good?” Zerak lazily agrees. “Seems so, Zarkor. Maybe we just don’t notice the good as much as the bad.” “Yeah, maybe,” Zarkor says. “I’ve been trying to work out a new theory. There’s a lot we don’t know about

Into The Great Cosmic Void - Preliminary

Well, I know we haven’t heard from our friends Zarkor and Zerak in a while. Thing is, they’re still stuck in the Great Cosmic Void. See, Zarkor had a dream in which he heard a mysterious voice calling him to the Void, which is a vast area of the Universe devoid of all matter. No stars, no galaxies…nothing. Yet Zarkor steadfastly believes there is something there. Zarkor insisted it was a telepathic message he received, Zerak argued it was just a dream. At any rate, it seems Zarkor talked Zerak

Zarkor and Zerak's New Year Party

As you can see, Zarkor and Zerak are having a wonderful New Year's Eve party on the roof of some hotel, planet unknown. Zarkor has picked up some local floozy who is giving him the eye. There seems to be plenty to drink, and I'm sure before the night is over, even Zerak will loose some of his stiff respectability. Zarkor, of course, has none to loose. Just how that motorcycle got on the roof is anybody's guess. Even Teddy seems to be passed-out, lying on the floor in front of Zarkor. I didn't k

Zarkor's Christmas Story

This is my Christmas story for this year, and I hope you may enjoy it a little. Those of you who have read my ‘Boating’ story may remember that Zarkor’s beloved Teddy had been left behind in that Adventure, and ever since, poor Zarkor had mourned his loss. Zarkor’s Christmas Story Zarkor and Zerak are in their living room in their home on Zerak's private planet, a tall and beautiful Christmas tree standing next to the fireplace. Zerak is busy adjusting the brightly colored lights. Zarkor, sitt

Merry Christmas from Zarkor and Zerak

Zarkor and Zerak want to wish a Merry Christmas to one and all! As you can see, Zarkor has already received many toys as presents, most of them from Zerak. I'm not sure what Zarkor is going to give Zerak and Cloney for Christmas. Probably something used from Cousin Billy's Pawn Shop and Curio Emporium. Zarkor loves pawn shops, and is always buying useless items from them. Whatever he buys as presents for them, Zerak and Cloney will say they are thrilled by Zarkor's kind generosity. They're a ha

Another Intermission

I took this picture the last time the guys visited Earth. It's in a secluded area of a park near my house. I think no one saw them while I took the pic, as their presence would create quite a stir if anyone else was looking. They don't visit Earth very often, as Zarkor does not favor Earthlings, though we do interest him in his own peculiar way. He likes our Punk music, for instance, and our ancient (to him) technology. He's always going to pawn shops picking up odd relics from various Alien ci

At the Circus - Conclusion

Zarkor has been taken to the Federal Prison Planet where he is condemned to spend the rest of his life chopping at solidified magma in an underground cavern. There is no purpose to this labor except for punishment. It’s a hellish environment for poor Zarkor, who is used to lazing around thinking up improbable theories about life, the universe and everything else, plus going on adventures and occasionally saving the universe from evil villains. We find him alone and miserable in a cave of magma,

At the Circus - Chapter 4

Later that night, after a frustrating few hours of trying to understand how to play his new game, Zarkor is sleeping peacefully in his room in the Lightship, when suddenly a loud knocking reverberates through his cabin. “Bang! Bang! Bang!” Zarkor is awakened by the noise and mutters sleepily, “Huh? Whah? Is that you, Zerak? Wake me later, it’s too early to get up.” A deep, authoritative voice calls out, “Open the airlock!” Zarkor slowly sits up, still drowsy. “Oh, damn! What is it now? Who i
