It came tumbling out of the sky and EeOna was the first one to see
it.
On the morning of her sixteenth birthday EeOna saw it. At first it
was just a twinkle in the dark before the dawn. She noticed it
because it was just sparkling so greatly that EeOna can't help
noticed it right away, just there beside the blurry moon.
Then EeOna heard it. Before long it broke out of the clouds and
tumbled across the foot of the mountain rolling like a wheel then
cutting a swath of clearing where once was forest.
EeOna giggled when she saw it rolling gently to a halt resting a
little against a low cliff, rocking slightly like a tired old man.
And EeOna was not even afraid , not one little tiny bit.
EeOna was not afraid because it was the most beautiful thing she
had ever seen. And deep in her heart EeOna knew it was her
birthday present from god. There and then EeOna felt a happiness
in her heart , she believed , that no one living or dead has ever
felt or will ever feel. In a way , she is right. EeOna was so
giddy with delight she almost fainted.
EeOna's present was five times taller than the tallest tree she
has seen in the valley where she lives. And it was three times as
wide as her home, maybe a little bit more. Even from where EeOna
stood, about a half days walk from it, she could see the gleaming
surface so shiny it reflected the clouds and the sky. It looked
like the letter 'e' lying on its back.
EeOna's father was screaming for her even before he had come to
the bend around the ridge. He was worried sick, fearful even. He
had heard something tremendous but had no idea what it was, it
sounded like tens of thunder claps going on at the same time. He
had never heard anything like it in his life. He feared for the
worse. All the angels he had seen in his life did not measure to
his relief in seeing EeOna safe. His precious daughter who just
turned sixteen.
Then the soldiers and scientists came. Three days after EeOna's
birthday, they came. In their machines, flying machines , digging
machines. EeOna was distraught to see them building a giant fence
around her present. She was more distraught when she was separated
from her father and mother. The people dressed in white coats told
her that they will take good care of herself and her parents and
keep her safe. EeOna never saw her parents again till many many
years later.
The world almost ended in those first weeks after EeOna's present
arrived. Every great and powerful nations of people in the world
then wanted to claim EeOna's present as their own. And wars were
started to stake those claims. Many lives were lost till EeOna
wrote a letter to the world telling them why the present was hers,
and how she was willing to share it with the world. The world
agreed and finally, laid down all weapons and shared EeOna's
present. The wars was delayed.
When EeOna finally did see her parents again, her father was
already on his death bed not even able to recognise EeOna. Her
mother though almost blind did recognise her.
"you smell like you the day they took you away"
EeOna and her mother cried all day that day.
On EeOna's final birthday, she made a request to the Doctors that
was caring for her. For one time, before she dies, EeOna would
like to touch her present. All this time she was housed in a
containment unit across her present. From her window she could see
the people studying her present, day in day out. Years upon years
and yet she herself has never even been close enough to see her
own reflection on it.
So it was on her eightieth birthday EeOna was taken to her
birthday present from god for the first time since the day she
first saw it. It was even more beautiful than she had ever
imagined. As she touched it for the first time her life, the
Doctors will swear that they heard the object sounded a sigh. A
last drop of tear flowed down her cheeks. EeOna had shed many
tears in her life but this final one, is a tear of joy. She passed
on not long after.
EeOna was then buried in a memorial near the extra terrestrial
object, when the wars started again. By the time the beings that
sent the probe did arrive, the world was already devoid of humans.
The day they found the probe and EeOna's memorial, they felt the
happiness in their hearts that EeOna felt when she first saw her
present from these beings all those years ago.
The probe was inscribed with a line of glyphs that no one had been
successful in deciphering and it was also inscribed on EeOna's
tomb.
It turned out to be a brief message stating peaceful intentions
and arrival for a visit in 250 earth years.
When read it vocalises as " HAr Pe Ee B aHr Urd ay Yi E OaH NA "
