The Gas Man Cometh

Posted by Waspie_Dwarf , in General waffle 15 December 2006 · 46 views

It was the annual check-up of my gas appliances today. Once a year my landlords send an engineer around to check whether I am going to die from carbon monoxide poisoning or cause a small explosion which will require the re-writing of the local map (and cost them money).

It's the same every year. The engineer will come in with his tool box and ask,...

A Night On The Town part 3

It's taken a while to get around to writing this entry. By the time my head was working again the blogs weren't. So here is my account of Friday's drink in London.

After writing my bog entry "To London again" I decided to check my emails where upon I discovered that the meet time was an hour earlier than I thought. I rushed to...

To London again

Sunset has fallen in the suburbs. The street lights are on in Bexleyheath. Time for me to grab my coat, walk to the train station and go for another drink with friends in the capitol city.

... or how I nearly curried a cat.

Those of you that have read earlier entries will be aware that I had a battle of wits with cats. Zeta kept stealing my seat and Nyana kept jumping on the cooker when the glass lid was closed. Eventually I won this battle.

Earlier this week Zeta decided to start a new battle. She decided it was her turn to sleep on...

Another Night On The Town

Posted by Waspie_Dwarf , in Photos, Good friends and jolly good c... 02 December 2006 · 54 views

It was back to central London on Thursday for more drinks with Steve and Simon. This time we started in the Argyll Arms, Oxford Circus. We then had a few in the Shakespeare's Head which is very close to the famous Carnaby Street. We moved on to another pub, but I can't remember which one.

Steve left before Simon and I, so the two of us headed of to...

The Kitchen Catastrophes of a Clumsy Clown

Posted by Waspie_Dwarf , in General waffle 29 November 2006 · 41 views

My kitchen is trying to kill me. As if eating my own cooking isn't dangerous enough inanimate kitchen object seem to have it in for me at the moment.

Monday: I managed to knock my water filter jug off the draining board. It was full (at least until it hit the floor). The plastic split and I had a very large puddle to clear up. If I was to repeat...

A Night On The Town

Posted by Waspie_Dwarf , in Photos, Good friends and jolly good c... 27 November 2006 · 113 views

I had a great time on Saturday with two of my friends, Simon and Steve. I hadn't seen Simon since April and Steve for even longer.

I don't claim to have many talents in life, but one thing I seem to do well is chose my friends. I have never had a large group of friends but I have the sort that I could trust my life with. In that respect I feel very...

Another reason to hate spammers

Posted by Waspie_Dwarf , in General waffle 26 November 2006 · 44 views

If I hadn't spotted a spammer on this site as I was about to leave yesterday I wouldn't have been 5 minutes later than I intended leaving home.

If I hadn't been 5 minutes later than intended leaving home I would have caught an earlier train.

If I had caught the earlier train I wouldn't have had to watch the arrivals board announcing that...

I predict a headache

Posted by Waspie_Dwarf , in Good friends and jolly good c... 24 November 2006 · 45 views

I'm looking forward to tomorrow. I'm jumping on a train and heading towards London. I shall head towards Earl's Court where I shall meet with some friends. We will watch England heroically lose the Rugby test with South Africa and drink some beer.

I haven't had a lot of cash recently and I suspect that I will not be as tolerant to alcohol...

Stupid questions

Posted by Waspie_Dwarf , in General waffle 23 November 2006 · 39 views

Yesterday there was an unexpected ring on my door bell. As Wednesday is refuse collection day the bell ringer would have had to negotiate my paper recycling bin and my composatble material recycling bin to get to my front door. These bins had only just been emptied (in the case of the compostables literally seconds before) and I hadn't got around to...
