A sting in the tail

Posted by Waspie_Dwarf , in My furry, purry friends 11 November 2006 · 29 views

This blog seems to be more about Nyana than me recently, not surprising really, she gets out more than I do.

Nyana has just returned home and, for the second night running, is soaking wet. No mystery tonight though as it is pouring down with rain.

As I have remarked before, Nyana has a particularly fluffy tail. This tends to pick up all sorts of detritus....

Nyana - International Cat of Mystery?

Posted by Waspie_Dwarf , in My furry, purry friends 10 November 2006 · 73 views

It's 4:30 am GMT. There is no one around (except me). There is not a cloud in the sky, So my question is this, how come my cat Nyana has just come in soaking wet?

Not all of her, just her back. If she was soaked from head to foot I would assume she had fallen in a pond chasing fish. If her belly was wet then I would assume she found some tall wet...

How my cats got their names.

Posted by Waspie_Dwarf , in My furry, purry friends 10 November 2006 · 50 views

I have noticed a trend with this blog. I get far more hits and more more comments when I post a story about my cats than I do when I post stories about me. I don't have a problem with that. They are more interesting than me and a lot cuter. I know my place in the pecking order. In fact I have half jokingly told my family that they only come to my house...

Putting out the rubbish

Posted by Waspie_Dwarf , in General waffle 08 November 2006 · 14 views

Wednesday is rubbish collection day for me. This used to be a simple task. The dustmen would arrive. They would walk down my garden path and empty my bin. That was it.

Then in the era of Thatcherism we were told that it was evil for local councils to run things like refuse collection. These services must be privatised as this would lead to greater...

Rugby Union - England used to play that.

Posted by Waspie_Dwarf , in Sport 06 November 2006 · 21 views

The first game of England's autumn campaign was played on Sunday at Twickenham. England played the New Zealand All Blacks, currently the best international side in the World. I couldn't be one of the 83,000 in the ground so had to watch on TV.

England started well and had what seemed to be a perfectly good try disallowed. The never recovered from...

Remember, remember the 5th of November

Posted by Waspie_Dwarf , in General waffle 05 November 2006 · 31 views

Well, it's Guy Fawkes night again. It's 401 years now since the attempt to blow up Parliament. We commemorate this every year in the UK by spending our money on fireworks and then attempting to blow ourselves up. We also show our appreciation to the fire brigade and ambulance service by insuring that they are busy all night.

Guy Fawkes night...

What is it with fireworks these days?

Posted by Waspie_Dwarf , in General waffle 31 October 2006 · 26 views

Until a few years ago the only time you ever heard fireworks in my part of the world was around the 5th November. Now it seems they are used to celebrate everything. There are a lot of Hindus and Sikhs living in my area and so I can understand that Diwali has just been celebrated, but why is it like a war zone in my street tonight? What have fireworks got...

What has 4 legs, a tail & no brain?

What has 4 legs, a tail & no brain?

The answer to the above question is a cat. Not all cats, just one of mine. In Happiness is the sound of a cat...

The Bus Journey From Hell

This morning I was wishing that I had something more exciting to write on my blog. I should have taken notice of that old Chinese proverb, "be careful what you wish for, you might just get it"

Tonight,on the bus journey home from visiting a family member, I was sitting alone on the top deck of the bus. A group of 5 youths got on and sat...

The Kentucky Kid - King of the World

Posted by Waspie_Dwarf , in Sport 29 October 2006 · 22 views

Congratulations to Nicky Hayden, the new MotoGP World Champion.

Unbelievably, in today's race in Valencia, the world's best motorcyclist, Valentino Rossi, made a mistake and fell. Hayden's 3rd place was enough to end Rossi's year reign as World Champion. Hayden has been consistent this year. He only won 2 of the 17 races but that was...
