Busy Christmas!

Who ever said that being a farmer was easy?

The gales brought down two large ash trees this afternoon...one of which has destroyed about 10 feet of fencing and damaged one of the stalls.  Several hawthorn branches are blocking the ditch which drains Lower Field, and now the field is flooded across the lane! To cap it all, every one of the dozen or so hornbeam saplings we planted earlier this year in Foxen-hill Toll Wood, has been flattened!

I'm going to leave the saplings until after the holidays, but we can't ignore the other stuff.

Both my odd-job men and the stable-lad have volunteered to put in a few hours (at time-and-a-half), so hopefully, it won't take too long to fix. But it's still going to cut into my Christmas 'Happy-Birthday-Jesus-and-Fall-Off-the-Bar-Stool' time!

Oh well, there's always New Year's Day to look forward to!
