musings on the younger kind

Posted by  , 14 September 2005 - 04:34 PM

now, i am enrolled in a government run program whereby they pay for me to go to college and i get free:
food
housing
clothes
etc.
this program is for 16-24 year olds. and i can't help but notice how almost everyone is immature/rude/disrespectful (if they're not one of these things, they're another.) example: you walk into the dorm with food and INSTANTLY you get: "i know you're not coming in here with food" "you better be sharing some of that" "what'd you bring me", OR (here's the best one) "Natalie, you know you're my best friend, right?" ad infinitum, ad nauseum. WHAT is wrong with these people? WHAT ON EARTH makes them think that they have the right to any food that comes into the same room as them?
this makes me mad. i know 5 year olds that aren't that bad!!!!

PLEASE, SOMEBODY enlighten me as to why this is. I understand that not everyone had parents or maybe their parents weren't that great. BUT STILL. how did they not come into contact with a teacher, mentor or even a friend that taught them how to be mature, respectful, and NOT GREEDY?
I need to know.

until next time,

Day

Posted by  , 12 September 2005 - 09:40 PM

Hello all. since i have never had a blog before, i'm not quite sure what to post about.
let me "entertain" you by telling you 'bout my day.
after going to sleep around 2 last night (compliments of a roommate talking on the phone- no anger though, she's a cool roomie), i woke up rather reluctantly at 7:00 and proceeded to lay on ma bed until 7:15 (amazing how little sleep the human body requires), whereupon i ate breakfast, got lunch and headed to school.
Aah, school. The Community College of Allegheny County. My major is social work, and i am required by the people paying my way through school (your own U.S. government) to take unnecessary courses such as Computers 100 and some sort of social development class that i have recently been skipping (as the instructor feels the need to get up and talk for 50 minutes. during one such lecture, she even mentioned that she didn't want the class to be just her talking. Oh, the irony of it all. no.gif
Anyway, i was done with classes at 12, ate lunch, and am now typing away happily on UM.

Sorry to have bored y'all with my day, but i didn't know what to talk about. (COULD mention Hurricane Katrina, and how the U.S. government has been COMPLETELY caught off-guard by it, while Cuba, a third-world country, is always prepared for hurricanes, but that's another post.)

Oh, before i forget, congratulations to me on recently reaching 500 posts. Wasn't easy.

Until next time,
