Sherapy replied to Ajay0's topic in Spirituality, Religion and Beliefs
AJ, Focusing on understanding individual needs, distinguishing them from desires, and adopting a balanced approach to fulfillment will contribute to a more sustainable sense of well-being and support efforts to address addiction more effectively. Many people overcome addiction and manage to find a homeostasis within capitalism. -

US intel said to indicate Iran could strike ‘Israeli soil’ in next 24 to 48 hours
Setton replied to Kittens Are Jerks's topic in Israel, Palestine and the Middle-East
This is part of my problem with the IDF. They clearly do have the ability to make good strategic judgements. This strike was about the best response they could give. It shows Iran's inferiority and demonstrates what Israel could do if it ever came to a war. Which makes it harder to believe missteps like mass civilian casualties and killing air workers are the result of poor decision making. -
Southern Israel attacked by Gaza militants
Star Chaser replied to acidhead's topic in Israel, Palestine and the Middle-East
The most moral army in the world who never lie and go above and beyond to keep civilians out of danger..... In the meanwhile this is what they've being doing to Palestinians languishing in prison for no crime, or petty crime or administrative detention indefinitely.... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-68780112 Thirteen Palestinian prisoners have since died in Israeli prisons, "the majority of them as a result of beating or denial of medication" "They beat him badly, and took him away to another cell upstairs for a week. During that time you could hear him crying out in pain." The Israeli prison service did not directly address the BBC's questions about Abdulrahman's death or those of the 12 other named Palestinians that the Commission of Detainees Affairs says have died, saying only: "We are not familiar with the claims described and as far as we know they are not true." Will there be an investigation? Probably not. Will get buried with the rest of the atrocities being committed in Gaza and the West Bank. -

People caught on camera dragging bear cubs out of tree to take selfies with them

That isn't ignorance. That is just blatant, unbridled stupidity. What adult is unaware that you should never jack with a bear cub? Want to encounter the most ferocious and unforgiving force in nature? Jack with a bear's cub! -

Perpetual stew: How a 79-year-old soup can still be safe to eat
Still Waters posted a topic in Weird, Bizarre and Offbeat News
In Krung Thep Maha Nakhon (Bangkok), there is an award-winning restaurant called Wattana Panich, where you can order and then eat a beef and goat soup that is 49 years old. The soup, which is described as "delicious and aromatic" as well as having a "real depth of flavor that's hard to explain", has been brewed by three generations of chefs working at the restaurant. Every night, whatever is in the pot gets stored, and brought out again the following day. More ingredients are added, and the whole process starts again, day in, day out, for decades. https://www.iflscience.com/perpetual-stew-how-a-79-year-old-soup-can-still-be-safe-to-eat-73901 -
Why "osiris" Didn't Exist Before The 5th Dynasty.

Here is something else for you to think about? Why you felt it was necessary to break down every sentence in my post and analyze every single word and comment on each sentence as though each sentence had a 'special' meaning? The meaning of my post was rather clear...I think your nuts. Your OCD is over the top in every aspect of your life. But you won't ever see that. -
People caught on camera dragging bear cubs out of tree to take selfies with them
Still Waters posted a topic in Natural World
There are few things more appealing than young fluffy animals. From kittens to puppies they are guaranteed to make people say “aww”. However, when it comes to the wild version of young animals they are always best admired from a distance. In an incident in North Carolina, a group of people were witnessed and filmed pulling two black bear cubs out of the low branches of a nearby tree to take selfies with the animals, which is a definite no-no. On April 18, the North Carolina Wildlife Agency responded to a call to assist the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department, after a witness filmed the group of six people dragging the bear cubs out of a tree and taking selfies with them. On arrival, they were told that both cubs had managed to escape from the group, with one cub having reportedly bitten someone. One of the cubs was found and later taken to a rehabilitation center while the other has not been found yet. https://www.iflscience.com/people-caught-on-camera-dragging-bear-cubs-out-of-tree-to-take-selfies-73913 -
Javan rhino: New footage shows one of world's rarest large animals is having babies
Still Waters posted a topic in Natural World
In the jungles of Indonesia, a camera trap has captured footage of a Javan rhinoceros calf, one of the rarest and most threatened large mammals on planet Earth. Spotted alongside its mother, the Javan rhino calf was spotted in Indonesia’s Ujung Kulon National Park on the morning of March 4, 2024. The calf is estimated to be between 3 to 5 months old, but little else is known about the individual – it's not even certain whether it is male or female yet. The video (below) follows previous sightings in 2022 and 2023 that each showed other new Javan rhino calves, suggesting the troubled species is perhaps not as doomed as once thought. https://www.iflscience.com/new-footage-shows-one-of-worlds-rarest-large-animals-is-having-babies-73916-

This is primarily why Christianity is so popular. It's called Amazing Grace. The experience is real. The reality of that experience yields one to believe certain things. But in actual reality...when you boil it down to the physical aspect of the human brain...it is a chemical reaction in the brain that causes ALL feelings, All emotions. Ever watched a faith healer like Benny Hill? People line up coming from the aisles to wait their chance to get the power of God's anointing through the hands of Benny Hill. He will lightly tap the person on the forehead, and they will then fall backwards into the arms of waiting clergymen. Ever wonder why that is? Because they are addicted to the 'rush' of that 'feeling' that they attribute to God...when all along it is a trick by Benny Hill to keep drawing them in and give him their money. Actually what it is...they want...NEED...that feeling in their lives. A sudden rush of serotonin in the brain. Did you know that it isn't the narcotic itself that makes one feel the way they feel when they take Heroin? What's actually happening in the brain is that the narcotic releases an incredible amount of neurotransmissions via chemicals in the brain. Heroin addicts will tell you that there is only one Rush...the rest of their existence is trying to feel that same rush again. What you experienced 'begging forgiveness' ...think of that as the catalyst to a chemical response. Nothing more, nothing less. And so, 'experience' doesn't really count for all that much does it? As far as actual truth and reality go? Not so much.

Tucker Carlson claims that UFOs are piloted by 'spiritual entities'
esoteric_toad replied to UM-Bot's topic in Extraterrestrial Life and The UFO Phenomenon
He will say what certain people want to hear with zero self conviction. If you believe he is telling you the truth then you are the sheep that so many accuse others of being. It is childishly easy to say 'the truth' if the truth is dividing people with hatred and lies. His not letting political correctness get in the way would be like saying the klu klux klan doesn't let political correctness get in the way. He will say anything to stay in the news and that is all. He doesn't care about anything he talks about, except his audience numbers and the money he may make off of that. -

The newest tool in the battle to prevent an artificial intelligence (AI) agent from being dangerous, discriminatory and toxic is another AI that is itself dangerous, discriminatory and toxic, scientists say. The new training approach, based on machine learning, is called curiosity-driven red teaming (CRT) and relies on using an AI to generate increasingly dangerous and harmful prompts that you could ask an AI chatbot. These prompts are then used to identify how to filter out dangerous content. The finding represents a potentially game-changing new way to train AI not to give toxic responses to user prompts, scientists said in a new paper uploaded February 29 to the arXiv pre-print server. https://www.livescience.com/technology/artificial-intelligence/scientists-create-toxic-ai-that-is-rewarded-for-thinking-up-the-worst-possible-questions-we-could-imagine

Sadhguru on understanding the nature of mental illness....
Sherapy replied to Ajay0's topic in Spirituality, Religion and Beliefs
AJ, blaming addiction solely on capitalism is too narrow. Addiction is complicated, influenced by many things like genes and environment. While capitalism has flaws, it also brings benefits like progress and opportunities. We need a comprehensive approach, not just fixing capitalism, to tackle addiction effectively. A more viable approach involves considering all aspects of a person's well-being, including physical, mental, emotional, and social factors. In the context of addressing addiction, a comprehensive approach would involve examining the person’s genetic predispositions, psychological vulnerabilities, social environment, and access to support services.
