Karlis Posted March 2, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 2, 2012 The object is located on the Laguna AAF Airport in Yuma Proving Ground, Arizona. It looks like a perfectly circular light surrounded by smaller lights arranged in a circle. There appear to be lines radiating from the center of the object. You can see the object for yourself by typing the coordinates 32.866436,-114.385992 into Google Maps. Read more...

par02 Posted March 2, 2012 #7 Share Posted March 2, 2012 (edited) How do you arrive at that conclusion? Satellite images are taken at different times of the year. You can see different buildings being up etc and the thing hasn't moved even though there is clearly air traffic coming in and out of that airport. And, although it isn't 100% clear, the google image map shows shadows on the plane to the north of the object and on the plane to the west of the object (that is about to take off). This object does not cast any shadows and its as wide as the utility road. PAR Edited March 2, 2012 by par02

ChrLzs Posted March 4, 2012 #12 Share Posted March 4, 2012 Follow the link to the 'dropbox' image in the comments below the article - it's very obviously some form of target or reference pattern on the runway. As for Tracey Parece's determination that it looked like 'lights'.. She did spot that it was a daylight photo, did she? Sigh - I saw nothing whatsoever in her article to suggest she spent even a moment considering what it *might* actually be. A helicopter?? Save me.. Phoenix1k Posted March 4, 2012 #13 Share Posted March 4, 2012 Its likely some kind of reference or targeting point painted on the taxiway with reflective paint, that would explain why it looks like its lit up. Plus its pretty well centered on the taxiway, its highly unlikely that an object passing over the airport would have been caught centered on taxiway so well.
