Look Menno, I may be an a$$hl, but I remember almost every word we all posted in this thread.

Maybe I am obsessed, I don't know how to call it.

But you can bet on your fuzzy ass I remember anything we have been discussing.

People ask me about this or that concerning this topic, and within a minute I give them an answer.

My computer is like my dk: I know how to play with it.

Sure, I remember the discussion and my comments. I do not know, why you brougth this up again. In the meantime I learned a bit more of Old Frisian, so I gave it an other try, so that it would look less like mediaeval Dutch. Nothing to worry about.

"comparatively limited geographical area"?

Some records of the 4.2ka BP event:

BurckleImpact-Model2.jpg

1. Egypt ca 2200 BC, Old Kingdom Collapsed, drought (?), famine.

2. Syria ca 2193 BC, Akkadian Empire Collapsed, drought (?), famine.

3. India / Pakistan ca 2200 BC, Harrapan Urban Civilization Collapsed.

4. China ca 2200 BC, Ancient Cultures Collapsed, Droughts & Floods

5. Sri Lanka ca 2200 BC, Tsunami

6. Mauritius ca 2200 BC, Mare Aux Songes: Mass Vertibrate Mortality, Drought

7. Australia ca 2150 BC, West Coast, Tsunami

8. Madagascar 2800 - 2500 BC, Fenambosy Chevron Dunes, Tsunami, Bolide impact. (Dating not done yet)

9. Indian Ocean 2800 - 2500 BC, Burckle Bolide Impact (Could only have been in 2200 BC. If earlier, there would not have been a Harrapan civilization to collapse)

10. South Afica 3000 – 1000 BC, Cape South Coast, Tsunami (Dating not done yet)

11. Argentina 2700 - 2200 BC, Campo del Cielo. Meteorite impact

12. Carribean 2200 BC, Coral reefs destroyed, Tsunami

13. Spain 2200 - 2100 BC, Donana National Park, Tsunami.

14. The Netherlands after 2200 BC, Delfzijl, Inundation / Flood

15. Italy 2200 BC, Cave Flowstones, aridification.

16. Pacific Ocean 2200 BC, massive changes in paleorecords

17. Canada 2200 BC, Glaciers advanced.

18. North Atlantic 2200 BC, Cooling down.

19. Central Africa after 2200 BC, Kilimanjaro ice cores, drought

Don’t you find it just a little strange that the 4.2 ka BP event is described as a period of aridification and climate change, yet we also find tsunamis, volcanism, bolide impacts and earthquakes during the same period in the scientific literature?

(I have previously given references to most of the above)

Now read the following again:

20. The Oera Linda Book

21. The book of Enoch

22. The curse of Akkad

23. The Prophesy of Neferti

24. The Admonitions of Ipuwer

25. The Bible

So you see, there is an abundance of evidence that the 4.2ka BP event was worldwide.

Now let us look at climate change and earth’s orbit. (remember Europe was warmer 4200 years ago than today and North Africa was grassland and thornbush savannahs).

If the changes in earth’s orbit and axial tilt occurred gradually over millennia as scientists SPECULATE, why did the process stop? Why are these changes then not still happening to this day? What caused it and what removed the cause?

On the other hand, some scientists say the climate changes of between 6000 to 4000 years ago were “brutal” and “sudden”. Again, what caused it and what happened to the cause?

If the 4.2ka BP event was the culmination of a few thousand year cycle, then we must have evidence of this cycle reducing in intensity over the next few thousand years. There is, however, no evidence that that the turmoil of 4200 years ago gradually reduced. It happened suddenly and it stopped suddenly.

You cannot explain the 4.2ka BP event as having been both part of a gradual process and a sudden event.

Obviously, earth did experience some relatively minor climate changes over the last 4000 years, but nothing as dramatic and sudden as to have wiped out numerous civilizations in singular events. If anything, earth’s climate was sufficiently stable over the last 4000 years for man and civilization to have developed fairly uninterrupted and continues to do so right up to the present.

All the evidence suggests to me that earth was jolted out of its orbit in a single event. This “jolt” would have created a “rocking” motion in the oceans, tidal waves, earthquakes, volcanism and tectonic plate slippage all over the world. It could have brought the thermohaline circulation in the oceans temporarily to a standstill which would have aggravated climate change. Even isolated bodies of water such as the Caspian and Black Seas or Hudson Bay would have experienced tidal waves caused by this jolt.

(Imagine a water container on the back of a truck taking a sudden turn or stopping suddenly. Under the correct conditions, the water in the container could overturn the truck).

A combination of this impact (or impacts), the rocking motion and tidal waves of the oceans, increased volcanism and tectonic activities could all have contributed to earth moving out of its orbit.

It may even be that this new orbit took earth out of the “asteroid highway” and hence we experience fewer impacts these days.

I can understand that you disagree with me as to what caused the 4.2ka BP event but I cannot understand how you can ignore all the scientific, archaeological and historical evidence that a single catastrophic event did indeed happen 4200 years ago. Have you ever noticed how frequently the date of 2200 BC comes up in research articles? Do you think this is just a coincidence? Why does the OLB also refer to the same date? (O.K. – 7 years different)

You may even want to read this Wiki article again: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4.2_kiloyear_event

Discoveries and new developments, be they scientific or otherwise, are not made by adhering to the status quo or by sticking to the accepted (unproven), but by examining the facts from a different viewpoint and by considering the alternatives. This is called “analytical and/or lateral thinking”.

You obviously think that my theory (which you call “speculation”) is absolutely impossible, absurd and only to be ridiculed. So be it.

Edit:

I don’t know why I still bother (sigh).

Excellent post Alewyn.

... the author used the characteristics of Oldfrisian grammar for modern Dutch words and expressions.

What "modern words and expressions"?

You don't know how "modern" they are.

Oral language is much older than our accepted written records of it.

What 'conspiracy theory'?

Here is another reveiling fragment of "Om de erfenis van Friso ~ 175 jaar Fries Genootschap" by Goffe Jensma, published in "Het Fries Genootschap 1827-2002" (2002), from chapter 3: "Voorgeschiedenis, 1750-1827"

(translation, for original see attached scan; p.26)

The Frisian Society (Fries Genootschap) might not have been founded, if king Willem I [(1772–1843)] would not have convoked all 'patriotic historians and linguists' by Royal Order of 23 December 1826, to submit proposals for the concoction of a 'General Netherlandic History'.

Until then an enterprise like that had not been undertaken, despite of 'the great importance of such a history, that aims at cultivating love for the fatherland, stimulating civic virtue and maintaining the national character'.

History and language are political tools to unite or seperate peoples.

i rest my case

Thanks Puzzler.

Btw. A "civilization collapse" in Egypt because of a "drought", would imply that the Nile dried up.The source of the Nile is some 6500 km away in Central Africa. Now add China, India, The Middle East, North America, etc., etc.

"comparatively limited geographical area" indeed!

Menno, I'll tell you this: I am able to add on "Old-Frisian-ish" line in the OLB, then post the whole alinea here, and not one of you would know I did.

Actually, I already did, lol. I once posted a piece of OLB text, and I added a line I had concocted myself.

Not one of you noticed I did, you all happily responded without showing any sign of having a clue something was not ok.

Good luck searching for that post, hahaha !!

"comparatively limited geographical area" indeed!

Now add Europe... wait... nothing like that happened in Europe.

Europe was Fryan territory, and nothing, no multitude of erupting volcanoes, no submerging lands, no mountains crumbling, no mountains emerging, no 3 years of forest-fires, and no floods happening around 2200 BC.

That must suck, eh?

You must show us all here that Europe - Fryan territory - was devastated around 2200 BC.

You can not, because there is no scientific proof of that ever happening.

We have many archeologists here, digging at ancient places.

They never found anything even remotely similar to an OLB citadel.

OK, yes, they found those "ringwall burchts" but they date from Viking times.

Nothing is being hided, people dig, they post about what they find, and that's it.

If what they find and post about is not to your liking, then YOU have a problem, not them.

I don't have one.

Then you don't know what a 'conspiracy theory' is.

But you sure have tried your best to portray the Dutch (= "Hollanders") as people who will do anything possible to hide 'true' Frisian history.

I have learned a lot about Frisians and their history during this thread, but I never portrayed them as 'evil'.

I have no reason to do that.

So why are you - in the 21th century- still trying to portray the "Hollanders" as evil beings?

Should I "hate" the Spanish, or the French, the Germans, or the Scandinavians?

That would be stupid, right?

For the information of whoever is interested, here is some Dutch Royal genealogy, highlighting the Frisian connection.

Explanation:

* = birth, + = death

the parents of person X are always the number of X doubled (father) and doubled plus 1 (mother);

example: parents of

7 child

are:

14 father

15 mother

You must be paranoid and/or delusional.

You sure have a habit of calling people names.

And with 'people' I - of course - mean those who do not believe in the OLB.

Oh, and btw: you live in La-la-land.

Well, just to get even.

And what are YOU on??

Excellent post Alewyn.

I do hope you loved Swede's reply as much as you loved Alewyn's post.

I think you didn't; he is just too well informed.

And also too polite.

No one is interested in that long and winding list, Otharus.

I have posted about "Friso" the son of the Queen of the Netherlands who is now almost dead after his skiing accident.

Who knows the meaning of ULK ?

Ottema translates wolk (cloud), but it makes no sense.I think it was a horn or shell (h-ulk ?) to make one's voice louder as used on ships, so that commands are heard nevertheless the noise of wind and waves. An attribute of Minerva is a flute, which comes close. This flute (vuvuzela) is used by stockmen, shepherds. We meet the sheep in the story of Nyhellenia (= Minerva). The horn (toethoorn) is also used during the Maifest (pag. 130).

The problem with Ottema was, that he didn't know about marine terminology, so he asked Cornelis over de Linden to explain marine items. The Halbertsma's used to sail (skutjesilen) on the lakes between Grouw and Sneek.

I do hope you loved Swede's reply as much as you loved Alewyn's post.

I think you didn't; he is just too well informed.

And also too polite.

.

Swede's only as informed as the most recent scholastic decisions are made, which are not always correct and of which, many are only guesses. His posts lack imagination and feeling, no, I liked Alewyn's much better.

And Otharus, what are you trying to prove? That picture is terrible, it's giving me the creeps.

You obviously understand nothing about Swede nor the information he presents. That's sad.

His posts lack imagination and feeling...

The only think Swede's posts "lack" are fabrication and manipulation of the facts. And much thanks to him for that, as we have enough people at UM making it up as they go along. Reality is evidently too much for some to handle.

Lucky I'm not one of those.

There's not much to understand except he posts the latest general scientific information.

Sometimes you need some imagination to push science further in it's investigations which often seem to give no clear answers at the best of times.

According to current knowledge, Tunguska-like impacts occur every 100 years or so. It is, therefore, not far-fetched to hypothesise that a super-Tunguska may occur every 2,000, 3,000 or 5,000 years and would be capable of triggering ecological crises on a continental or even global scale. In the past, sceptics have demanded the evidence of a crater before they would accept an argument of cosmic impact, but it is now becoming understood that no crater is necessary for disastrous consequences to ensue. The difficulty this leaves scholarship, however, is that in a Tunguska Event no direct evidence is left behind. It may be impossible to prove that one ever took place in the distant past.

http://www.britarch.ac.uk/ba/ba30/Ba30feat.html

Even science (and therefore Swede) may be beyond giving us the true answers, when science is incapable of finding them.

If you didn't like that post, why did you quote all of it?

We are discussing a manuscript that is supposed to be a copy from the 13th century.

My post was a bridge of family relations (24 generations) from the 13th century till now.

It shows many things.

To give only a few examples:

- names that were used through time (names are an important part of language and culture)

- the connection with Leeuwarden of our current royal family

- the fact that our royal family is hardly of Dutch origin, but nearly 100% German (not judging that)

That picture is terrible, it's giving me the creeps.

I have changed it.

It was too small anyway.

But in a way it was funny and relevant, I thought, because it shows a bit of Dutch folklore and playing with language and tradition.

OLB is seen by some as a hilarious, blasphemic parody too.

It was a performance in 1970 near Volendam (NH) by artist Jan Cremer (1940), titled:

"Hans Brinker saves Holland by putting his thumb in the Dyke"

No one is interested in that long and winding list, Otharus.

Speak for yourself.

I have posted about "Friso" the son of the Queen of the Netherlands who is now almost dead after his skiing accident.

Now THAT was irrelevant information.
