Mandrake hears that the Queen has updated the Order of Precedence in the Royal Household to take into account the Duke of Cambridge’s wife.The new rules of Court make it clear that the former Kate Middleton, when she is not accompanied by Prince William, must curtsy to the “blood princesses”, the Princess Royal, Princess Alexandra, and the daughters of the Duke of York, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie. When William is with her, Kate does not need to bend the knee to either of them, but she must curtsy to the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. This is an indirect result of the watering down of Salic Law, (whereby the male line takes precedence), and has strengthened the position of females in the order of succession. Kate knew the score before she married William and has accepted the situation, unlike Diana who was too dim and self-centered to realise what would be expected of her. The marriage to Diana was nothing more nor less than an arranged marriage so that the heir to the throne could produce heirs of his own . I felt really sorry for her because I think she thought he loved her, that he actually wanted to marry her. To be sucked into the royal family as a baby-making machine and then spat out when she was no longer useful was the most appalling thing to happen to a sensitive 20yr old. If you truly respect someone you may show them respect, if bowing is how you show your respect that is your choice. I can't stand them, the Queen looked like a right miserable git at the Jubilee thing which was all for her. I don't car eif it was raining and she had to stand for 3 hours or something. My Gran has to stand for hours in the rain when she goes shopping etc. She doens't complain about it. Poeple have to stand in hours of rain WORKING to pay taxes. She has £1.7 billion in a personal account, why the hell do we pay for her and her family?! I don't care if it's tradition... Hanging was a tradition, so was beheadings.
