Wasn't sure where to post this Q.

I'm not even sure I'm allowed to ask it but anyway!

What is the best movie you have seen that is apparently based on a true story? It can be on any subject. An example: Rainman (great movie).

:)

Zulu

In the non-fiction genre I tend to like the big historical war films.

As long as they are not too Hollywoodifyed ;)

Saving Private Ryan, that was a true wasn't it.

Wiki tells me that it's loosely based on real events.

The Other Side Of The Mountain

I'd remembered it as "My Side" Of The Mountain... it's been a long time so, I looked it up, and that's an entirely different story!)

I watched a good one recently staring Val Kilmer as John Holmes. Telling the story of the Wonderland murders. It was called : Wonderland.

Have you seen The Entity (1982)? It is reportedly based on a true story. Pretty freaky and frightening.

I would like to add another movie to my earlier list... I just finished watching it for the first time..

"The Flowers of War" - the story is about a group of young female students trapped inside a Mission Church in Nanking during the Japanese occupation (The Rape of Nanking - not Japans finest hour)..

I don't know if the events portrayed are true events but I do know that similar events occurred in Nanking during the occupation...

Very good film - partially in Chinese and partially in English (Christian Bale stars as a man masquerading as a Priest who helps the girls)...
