What did we learn in this election?

What did we learn during this election?

1.) The biggest point for me is the Tea Party. Republicans, the Tea Party is killing you. Distance yourself from them. I gained a lot of respect for the American people and a bit for the Republican Party as a whole for not electing/re-electing these morons. The worse thing they did was open their mouths. If you are a Tea Partier, please…keep talking in public…

The Tea Party crushed Republican hopes. Republicans thought they would do great in the Senate races but did horrible.

Akin lost horribly to a beatable candidate after his “legitimate rape” comments.

Richard Mourdock was defeated badly after his “all pregnancies are a gift from God” statement.

In Mass, Warren pounded the incumbent Brown after his campaign of personal attacks.

In the House…

Allen West appears to have lost his seat in Florida.

Michele Bachmann nearly lost her seat in the House, winning by less than 4,000 votes or 51% AND this is after making a run for President. (Edit:Putting this on hold for now. It is now 50-50 with Graves leading Bachmann.)

2.) 6 Billion dollars spent on this election and the results were nearly the same as they were 4 years ago…

3.) Saving the auto industry made a difference. Many do not agree with it, but those that were working in it and lived in the areas where the economy was affected would disagree. The auto industry gave Obama Ohio.

4.) Republicans need to take a different approach. This was their last shot. With the economy in the shape it is in, a high unemployment rate, and a soaring national debt, it was their election to win. Times are changing. They need to start catering more to gays, women, and minorities. They need to come back to the center and start working with the Dems.

5.) Fox News is always wrong ;)

But please, please, please, for the sake of America, get along and get things done. Obama is the President for another 4 years and cannot run again. The war is over. Work together and get things done so we can progress into the future.

Personaly I didnt learn anything I didnt already know. Once the primaries were over I already knew the election results. It didnt matter who won. Status quo was protected at all costs. All hail the mighty banks.

Indeed. It would have been nice to elect someone who wasnt owned by them though.

Is there someone though? This is capitalism and money rules in capitalism...who has the money? The banks...

That it has literally become an idiocracy in the United States. Especially California.

What's wrong with Cali?

They voted No on proposition 37. No on GMO labeling. It's funny, Cali is supposedly a predominantly "green agenda" state. People like that are voting! As a nation, we are in serious trouble.

In my opinion, what should have been learned is that the American people are evolving. The Republicans need to step back and take a lesson. People are tired of the theocratic dogma and outdated moral ideals ringing back to the middle ages.

The Republicans need to stand on their strengths...fiscal responsibility and let the social conservatism and moral majority fade. They need to take a hard look at the ideas of Ron Paul and a solid look at the platform of the Libertarian party. I think, if they hadn't had so many looney-tunes with crazy and outdated ideas, they would have fared better.

They need to stop worrying about who a person loves and wants to marry. They need to stop concerning themselves with a woman's body and her right to choose. They need to stop trying to control what a person puts into their body or how they earn a living. They have tried to say they are for small government and freedom, but their policies fly right in the face of that.

I am going to hope for the Libertarians and 2016...but I am going to accept what has happened and do my best to make the most of it.

I see prop 37 as rather moot. I do not see what it does...So what if something is genetically engineered? Does that some how make it bad? Genetically engineered is the same as genetically selected for, right?

Brassica, or wild mustard, has had traits selected to make cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, brussel sprots, turnips, rutabaga, kale, and more...

They selected specific genetic traits to make many different types of food...we consider all perfectly fine and natural...

What did I learn? I learned the value of teamwork, friendship, and believing in yourself. And that above all else, my serious answer, the Republicans and Democrats have a 'US versus THEM' mentality. It's not 'this what I think the country needs' it's become 'this is what the party says, what voters want, we'll do anything for your vote except something that works'.

Edit: Also maybe we've learned that the line 'taking back America' is annoying? Taking it back from whom? Other Americans? 'Oh no! They have a different viewpoint! They're stealing my America!' Puhlease.

Hopefully that will change. Obama cannot get elected again. There is no reason to make him look bad by not working with him. He is gone in 4 years. Just work together and get stuff taken care of...

What did we learn during this election?

1.) The biggest point for me is the Tea Party.

Comrade, the TEA Party is the only hope for this country, although I do admit that the leadership that rose up was the wackos. But the TEA Party isn’t about these losers. It’s about Fiscal responsibility, cutting spending, and paying down the debt. I guess the TEA Party is more of a mindset, rather than a movement.

The Tea Party crushed Republican hopes. Republicans thought they would do great in the Senate races but did horrible.

Comrade, the TEA Party wasn’t what crushed Republican hopes. It was the gays, women, and minorities that were bought for a trinket.

2.) 6 Billion dollars spent on this election and the results were nearly the same as they were 4 years ago…

That is setting off red flags…

3.) Saving the auto industry made a difference. Many do not agree with it, but those that were working in it and lived in the areas where the economy was affected would disagree. The auto industry gave Obama Ohio.

We’ll see what happens in 5 to 10 years. People think that GM can’t go into bankruptcy this time? The only way to save Detroit would be to nationalize the auto industry. How much is that going to cost the tax payer? It’s better to let it fail and then rebuild. That is what makes it healthier and stronger.

They always have. The Republican party is not what the Socialists and MSM paint them out to be. The issues were the economy and jobs, yet the President won on buy off women and gays. This is right out of Alinski.

5.) Fox News is always wrong

Well, as someone else pointed out, if it weren’t for Fox news America wouldn’t have even known about Fast and Furious or the Benghazi fiasco.

But please, please, please, for the sake of America, get along and get things done. Obama is the President for another 4 years and cannot run again. The war is over. Work together and get things done so we can progress into the future.

The war is not over. There is no compromising with Socialism. There are still some people that will stand up to it. We cannot progress into the future under Socialism. What’s the point to having the Constitution if we do? I’m not willing to give up my Rights as a human being, as so much of the world already has. I still believe in high ideals as American Exceptionalism and that we are a beacon of light of freedom. If we can’t be that, then what’s the point?

Ask that question in 4 years. And see who needs to learn. Before the election, the majority of Americans said that we as a nation were going in the wrong direction. Today, it is status quo.

Mary Matthews (Katharine Hepburn) in “State of the Union” said: “You politicians have stayed professionals only because the voters have remained amateurs.”

How were women and gays bought off?

Fox cares more about Benghazi than a crushing hurricane.

The leadership of the Tea Party is a bunch of wackos but the Tea Party isn't about them? You need to inform your followers...you know the guys that made them the leaders...

Liberals are not socialists. We have been over this many times. We are as much socialists are you are an anarchist.

You are an anarchist.

2 things.

Blacks, latinos, and other minorities will always vote for the democrat. ( And it will continue since their numbers are increasing )

Since there are now more takers than makers, they will vote democrat aswell. ( And it will continue since their numbers are increasing )

The traditional Republican vote is shrinking, the tea party are out of touch with modern America.Ethnic groups such as the latino community are growing and the Republicans need to clear the dinosaurs out of their party and re-invent themselves because they will probably won't see much of the Whitehouse.

I think I'll stick with natural foods which have been proven safe over millenia...vs. genetically altered food which is relatively new. I think everyone should have the right to know what they are eating. Why not?

Unfortunately, I don't see that happening. The Republicans had it in their mind that they'd be 'taking back' the White House (that's just the general party, not the individuals who make it up? I'm sure many people weren't thinking this way. So what better way to 'take back' the government then still making it hard on hard on te Democrats. And the Democrats are no better. Compromise to both sides seems to mean 'give up those hard line views you have and come to the center of the aisle'. What are these parties but the hard line views?

You guys talk about thess 2 parties as though they are different. As though they arent on the same team. Each has a roll to play, given to them by the banks and corperations. They dont work for you. So pleading that we can finnaly get to work, ect ect, is a total waste of time. You lost America. You lost long before they put these 2 clowns in front of us.

Stop eating all of the foods I listed above. If you really give a crap what is in your food, it's called Google. You explain to companies why they have to spend more money putting this stuff on the labels and why it is okay they lose business because of these statements.

The truth of the matter is that most people do not give a crap...and if they do give a crap, they already know which are the good foods and which are the bad foods...

Fine...financially we are owned...but what about the social issues? I am for freedom and equality for everyone. That is why I am a liberal. I think gays should have the same rights as everyone else and I think minorities should be taken into consideration. Banks do not play a role in that.

Lol. Yeah...you mean "going in the wrong direction" for Richie Rich, right? If I had millions of dollars or owned a business/corporation and worshipped Greed as my new god, I'd probably say the same damn thing. But it looks like to me the latest votes in this country have spoken and not the so-called "status quo".

The vote talks, everything else walks.

No one would lose a dime having to lable thier product. They already have to lable there product with everything in it. 3 more letters isnt going to cost anything. If a insect cant eat corn cause it has been modified to produce its own pesticide, humans should not be eatting it. We are the only country who doesnt force labling, and others have out right banned it. It is not to much to ask it be labled. This was the one small victory I was hoping for in this election. But no, the sheep go where thier master tell them.
