Professor Buzzkill Posted January 3, 2013 #151 Share Posted January 3, 2013 You have neither a coherent argument or any evidence to support it. Your guns do nothing to stop rape - or you are born rapists. Take your pick. Br Cornelius Once again BC, you would like the evil public to have less rights. This is an american issue. Do you understand what its like to have a right to own a firearm? I dont as i am not american, but i am for keeping peoples rights.

The right to die. 1 in 240 Americans will die from a gun shot in their life. maybe you would like to exchange your chance of death by homicide for Americans. Some rights are more important than others. I prefer the right to personal safety over the right to carry a gun. aztek Posted January 3, 2013 #154 Share Posted January 3, 2013 (edited) Its per capita which means all numbers are comparable ie normalized to each other - you dumb ass. The UK drops if you combine them all. Br Cornelius they do but you still a dumb ass too. there were 15084 rapes in england wales in 2009, 422 in Ireland, and 884 in Scotland in the same year. with brings it to rates roughly 27, 23, 17. based on population in those areas. edit. p.s. oops you might be right this time, yea, they do add, this time i am as dumb a..s as you are, for counting wrong, but you still a dumb ass for ignoring numerous facts, when fire arms prevent rapes and murders. evidence are plenty. aztek Posted January 3, 2013 #155 Share Posted January 3, 2013 (edited) so? more will die from car accidents, medical mistakes, and food poisoning. some of those shot, deserve to be shot. show us the source, cuz numbers you post aint any more credible that you are. you know if 1 in 240 dies from guns in USA i'd like potential rapists, and attempted murders be there instead of their victims. Yamato Posted January 4, 2013 #157 Share Posted January 4, 2013 Duplicate. Murder rates in Washington DC are insane. Maybe the feds should eat their own cooking first and prove to everyone else that their ways are better before trapsing on the rights of others with murder rates a small fraction as bad. I suppose even that is too much to ask a determined socialist.

Yamato Posted January 4, 2013 #161 Share Posted January 4, 2013 Confusing issues again Br Cornelius Not really. If the federal government isn't the agent that throws our rule of law out the window in favor of Socialism, what is? You are aware there's an Amendment process in this country where the 2nd Amendment can be repealed. Regardless, take an honest look at murder rates in Washington DC and tell me why you trust them to administer the rest of the country too? Maybe it's just bad luck they're having in DC, eh? Your a "reds under the bed" man aren't you ? Anything short of anarchy is socialism, right. Bavarian Raven Posted January 4, 2013 #164 Share Posted January 4, 2013 The murder rates (by guns) do not lie - I am safer than you - FACT. Is that why gun crimes have near doubled in britain since the near ban was put in place ages ago?

Just popping in to point out that your examples are flawed. In order to drive you need a license which means that you must be tested and the government keeps track of your driving behavior. Bad behavior (not even fatal) will get your license suspended and no more driving and possibly severe penalties (financial and jail). Medical mistakes - same as above. Intensive study and licensing required. Government monitored. Bad behavior = serious consequences. Food poisoning - generally an individual's own fault. Sale of most foods (stores/farms/etc.) monitored and watched. Krogers sells contaminated cabbage? Krogers gets sued and is responsible for the action. Gun ownership? Ok, background check required. Full stop in my state. No registering. No testing. No training. No follow up. Sales between individuals - free for all. No tracking. No license. Nothing. So according to your statement you are putting medical mistakes, food poisoning, driving and gun ownership/use on the same level. Shouldn't they have at LEAST the same type of management as your other examples? Nibs
WoIverine Posted January 4, 2013 #166 Share Posted January 4, 2013 I love how the media runs wild with these massacre stories, yet barely anything is mentioned when someone uses a gun to protect themself, or someone else for a legitimate reason, agenda much?
questionmark Posted January 4, 2013 #167 Share Posted January 4, 2013 (edited) Is that why gun crimes have near doubled in britain since the near ban was put in place ages ago? Not quite right, gun violence decreased, knife violence slightly increased and the rest is due to the fact that most brawls were somebody gets a bloody nose is counted as extreme violence by laws. But still, overall the violent crimes are receding since 1995: More data on this BBC article and it is not only violent crime that is decreasing but all except drug offenses is. So, the less guns more violence thingy, at, least for the United Kingdom, is not factual. Whether it has anything to do with the gun ban is inconclusive as the ban started in 96 and the downward trends in crime in 95. That there is more gun crime is a urban legend, created by the fact that having a gun is a gun crime in Britain now, but that is not relevant to the gun violence. aztek Posted January 4, 2013 #168 Share Posted January 4, 2013 (edited) FBI: Hammers, Clubs Kill More People Than Rifles, Shotguns http://www.fbi.gov/a...e-data-table-11 “If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an outright ban, picking up every one of them, Mr. and Mrs. America turn them all in, I would have done it. I could not do that. The votes weren’t here,” Feinstein told MRC-TV in a 1995 interview. this time he might have enough votes, and they WILL take all your guns, that they see fit, today. and than tomorrow they will vote for a law that will take the rest. only incredibly stupid ppl believe in good will of the gvmnt.
