Still Waters Posted January 27, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2013 Horsemeat used in beef burgers supplied to supermarkets in Britain was imported from Poland, the Irish agriculture minister has said. Meat from a plant in Ireland was supplied to food companies including Tesco, which withdrew from sale all products supplied by Silvercrest in County Monaghan. The latest tests are a “major breakthrough” in the investigation according to Simon Coveney, the Irish Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine. http://www.telegraph...ister-says.html Previous thread - http://www.unexplain... horsemeat&st=
Queen in the North Posted January 27, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 27, 2013 I maintain that the horsemeat was probably the best bit of the Everyday Value burgers.

Burger King has stopped buying beef from an Irish meat processor whose patties were found to contain traces of horsemeat. The fast food chain said Thursday it had dropped Silvercrest Foods as a supplier for its U.K. and Ireland restaurants as a "voluntary and precautionary measure." More on that - http://www.huffingto..._n_2541347.html On a side note, I hate burgers...I make my own for the family copying recopies from Jamie Oliver and others... TheLastLazyGun Posted January 28, 2013 #9 Share Posted January 28, 2013 I can't see what the problem is in horsemeat being found in burgers. If you go to the Continent you will see it sold in butchers.
Bonecrusher Posted January 30, 2013 #10 Share Posted January 30, 2013 (edited) I can't see what the problem is in horsemeat being found in burgers. If you go to the Continent you will see it sold in butchers. That's partly true. It's just that horse meat masquerading as beef burgers is against the trade and descriptions act. That's what all the fuss is all about. Tbh I was pretty remiss not getting the Racing Post because I wanted to hear it straight from the horses mouth. Though I think it's archived on the website because the only time you are required to sign in is to look at the form. Btw I'm more likely to gamble on horses than eat them. However that's one of my assumptions wrong because I thought I resolved this issue on the other thread. So it's not going to be the last horse in the sellling stakes at Catterick Park after all. Tbh the Polish horse industry is a complete mystery to me. The only ones I know are the British and Irish ones. However I know bits and bobs about the French,Australian and American ones through osmosis. I'm not being xenomorphic but the best thoroughbreds don't come from Poland.
