That is another major point ^^, the developed countries have a below averagefertility rate, whilst all this being accounted for majorly by the developing countries, which I expect have an above average fertility rate!

Why must every woman have 1-2 children, in order to replace her and her spouse? Why must we continuously exceed in population, when ultimately it will result in the deterioration of economy?

Why do we want these third world countries, to continue to grow in populace, when they clearly cannot support themselves?

Further thought, such a major, growing population within these third world countries, is probably the source and a major contributing factor as to why they cannot support themselves.

THe world is not linked to numbers ... some times all it takes is one, most times millions are not enough ...

The break down of the world infra structure isn't reliant on one isolated factor alone, and any 'one' of the many inter connected reliant or dependent factors failing pretty much means fail in the end.

Yes developing countries have higher fertility but they are coming down rapidly. However, look at it this way. A generation takes about 30 years. If world fertility fell to that of japan or many other countries, then our population could drop from 9 billion to 3 billion in 60 years. In some ways that would be good but the problem is the imbalance between young and older people and between those generating wealth and those consuming it ie retired peopleand pensioners with high medical and social costs. Continue such a trend and in another 60 years the world population would be down to 750 million. Another 60 years and it ould be less than 200 milion in total.

That is; it is more than feasible that, by 2150 the worlds population could be back to where it was a thousand years ago. Now while that might be a good thing for the earth, the period of transition in such a rapid decline would be far more catastrophic for humanity than our rapid growth was.

A couple of salient points. from one site i quoted

http://www.theglobal...ing-babies/573/

Given that there is a lag of about 30 years, one generation, between the time a country’s reproductive rate falls below replacement level and the time it begins to decline, Japan’s population now is falling. And the rate of decline is increasing sharply.

By the turn of the century, according to the UN’s Population Division projections, Japan’s population will most likely fall by a quarter. And this projection may well be understating things. The current rate of reproduction would see Japan’s population more than halve, from around 125 million in 2010 to about 55 million in 2100.

And as we know, as birth rates decline in a country, the average age of its citizens increases. In 2010, the median age of the Japanese was 44.7. If it maintains its current low fertility rate, the median age will be 56 by 2050, and 60.4 by 2100.

If you want to understand why Japan’s economy has remained flat despite repeated efforts at economic stimulus over the past 20 years, and also predict the likely outcome of the latest huge effort at stimulus, taking a quick look at the country’s demographic profile is a good way to start.

The most extreme is Singapore, which is now one of the most crowded places on Earth, but which could be much emptier soon, unless its people lift their fertility rate from its current 0.78.

At that rate, without immigration, by 2100, three generations from now, Singapore’s population would be down more than 90 per cent, from the current 5.2 million to well under half a million, mostly geriatric, citizens.

No doubt the world’s population has to decline to be sustainable in the long term, says Peter McDonald, professor of demography at the Australian National University and president of the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population. But it has to decline in an orderly way.

“Countries need to have a birth rate not too far from replacement level, somewhere in the 1.7 to 2.0 area. Once you drop below that, you cause too much damage to your age structure,” he says.

In other words, you have too many old people for the young people to support.

“If you have a birth rate of one,” he says, “that means your population falls by half in one generation, which is about 30 years. After three generations you’re down to one-eighth of your starting population. And one-sixteenth after four.

“If the Japanese keep their birthrate where it is they’ll quickly become extinct.”

“Equally, if you’re much above two and you’re a big country, you’re growing way too much.”

What you think will happen in next 100 years and beyond? Will we finally know the real truth behind ancient mysteries like ufo's, crop circles, ancient places like stonehenge or pyramids in giza, and who we really are? The proof is there, but what is the purpose? Why there is so many questions and not too many answers? Does our ancestors are trying to tell us something? Whats your opinion?

The ancient Indians were very much into their sci-fi. If you ever get a copy of their Vedic Texts translated into English you'll release they contain stories similar to watching Star Wars films. What is odd about them is that they talk about things which ancient people shouldnt know about such as time dialation from traveling close to light-speed. Even stranger is they contain blueprints and descriptions for building the spaceships and explanations of how their propulsion units work. I think you'll find the Nazis trip to Tibet was to recover a copy of the blueprints and WW2 oddly enough contains the first modern reports of UFOs in Germany. Or to give them their proper name from the period - foo fighters.

The Vedic Texts say that gravity doesnt exist. They say that the attraction between two opposite magnetic charges is more powerful than the repuslion between two like charges. Therefore there is a net magnetic attraction between all atoms in the universe and this is being mistaken for gravity. In physics experiments we can even should you that magnetic fields curve-spacetime by detecting time-dialations. The difference is that its millions of times stronger in magnetic fields than the small difference between charges (gravity).

Hence we already have the technology to built a working warpdrive.

the simple answer is most often the hardest to understand or beleive .

our problems are not the ones we need to worry about . population will fix itself , rich people do not have babys like poor people ... the poor will over run the rich... and create more poverty .

technology will advance... and disappear ... because people disappear, and with them the knowledge .

the past shows us that the stupid people run everything ... the smart people are punished for being smart...

and the greater your honor , the greater the shame you will endure ....

islam will crush every thing good in the world, and god will turn his back on all who remain .

unless ... women wake up and fight back ... men build the devices ... women run the world , this issue is up to women.

if islam has its way , kiss anything like future being better good by .

the diffrence between womens rights is clear when you see the two sides .

in the west ... women want the right to kill their men , one minute at a time , legaly

in the third world .... women want to survive marrage , where a man can kill her if he understands the law .

in a rational world , women would be trained to keep and use a hand gun at age 12years , as a normal right passage.

for no more reason than historical pattern recognition .

warp drive assumes we need to move faster than the speed of light .

as you go faster.. you grow in size but not in mass .. as you reach near speed of light... your the size of the universe... you then slow to your local size .... and have reached your location .... the bad news is alot of time has past ... or... you have been crushed to a fine powder

warp of space / time with magnetic feilds is sound in a twisted kind of way . but why would you not drop the space-location-infinitespace element and change over to time / ele ... then return to time / space where you wanted to go .

that would be so much easier ... awareness can go between dimensions , if your not to picky about how .

I dont understand what you're trying to ask.

If you were moving at the speed of light between A and B then no time will have elapsed from your perspective during your journey. You would get there in an instant. With a warp drive you could be travelling at one metre per second and be able to get to the next star system in just a couple of minutes. The reason for this is it compresses the space-time infront of the ship so you travel through it quicker.

Magnetic fields curve space-time and this is experimentantly confirmed so you dont need to produce gravity to make a warp-field. The reason for it is electrons have mass. However what the media dont tell the public is that the strength of gravity detected with electrons violates relativity and this has been known for over a century. They use Mossotti-Lorentz equations for the gravity of electrons instead. That theory says gravity doesnt exist and is infact the overall net magnetic attraction due to the difference in strength between attractions and repulsions.

Imagine you sat inside a specially constructed room for an hour. A room that has walls which charge up to just a few millions volts. Then when you leave you'll discover more than an hour has passed outside your room. It would be days. This is already known because as is sat experiments show magnetic fields curve space-time.

Perhaps we should first discover our own flaws.

I suspect the human brain will progress far faster than the body...

the body is far behind in evolutionary measures. Nerve ailments i.e addiction, sickness, deteriation, etc ...leaving a major gap between brain and body . More specifically mental vs physical. Physically we have not changed much if anything in the last 100,000 years . The biological turtle and the mental hare.

I believe all the bodies are connected --- we have multiple bodies, not just an 'ego' which dictates self as the only existence of all. Your right about the mental v physical, but ever asked why sickness and addiction is so prevalent ?- it's not a lack of evolution I don't think.

Ask myself? sometimes im burdened by the thought.

As for the body vs mind evolving,. put in perspective our ability to send a robot Mars. We can do it but physically its a b****. Scientists have just begun to access that we may only be in our human infancy state.Look at all weve begun know/achieve in the past mere 50 years of our existance alone. Makes you wonder.

The second part is clear. Consciousness can travel almost intantaneously especially using established "gates" around our universe.Iit can even travel throughthe wormholes connecing our universe to others.

But travelling as a physical entity might be possible using a number of method.s First wormhole technology. Second light speed or faster than light ships. Third bending the fabric of the universe in ways other than the use of wormholes.

The most likely method using presently developing technology is to send a matter transmitter/receiver at slower than light speed to a destinaton and then travel using transmat between earth and that station, virtually instantaneously, or at the very slowest at light speed. I personally think that these methods will be developed before we even begin to have to use slower ships such as colony or multi generational transports. For example, matter transmission is already a scientific reality, and it is likely given present progress, that inanimate matter will be transmitted within a decade or two, while transmitting living matter, including humans, will certainly be possible in the latter half of this century.

While this will take time to establish over interstellar distances, it will greatly speed colonisation of the solar system, as we establish stations on the moon and nearby planets, allowing construction materials and personel to be transmitted quickly and efficiently.

It's almost a thing of the past? Since 1974 the Earth's population has almost doubled. Last year it rose from 6billion to 7billion and it's expected to hit 10billion within the next 50 years, let alone contemplating the Earth's population within the next 100 years!

With such a rapid increase in population, how do you suggest, we are going to stay substantiated, with the rapid decrease in resources?

I'm not concluding a total extinction of the human species, instead a real downfall in overall economy.

The party line fed to us all by governent sources and media is that the population of the world is leveling off. Which may, or may not end up being true.

Japan for instance is now paying people to have MORE kids. Because there is a very real fear in Japan that there will eventually be more retired people then working people, and then the government will not be able to tax enough to support those retirees and THEN they will have all kinds of problems.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/asiapcf/09/04/japan.children/

When the industrialized nations end up unable to pay for their elderly, one response will be population growth.

One thing that has historically happened when a poorer nation with lots of population is next to a richer nation.... Invasion... War. War is one of mankinds great population checks. Though sometimes it is migration, rather then invasion. But usually the people who live where the migration is going on have problems with the people moving in and taking their stuff.

This topic seems well suited to mention Ray Kurzweil (prolific inventor and futurist) and his predictions of the singularity, trans-humanism, and the exponential growth of technology (i.e. the more computational power the more things we can invent .

While these ideas, that all matter will be imbued with "human technology" and immortality might be achieved through virtual or digital means, sounds crazy, very smart and wealthy people are working very hard to accomplish it.

I am seeing more and more articles regarding self-assembly, biological transistor tech and bioengineering. Also smaller and smaller cpu predictions leading to "smart dust" that may be hard to control. Look at the problems we've had with GMO seed dispersal.

That all leads me to believe that this way of life might become inevitable. One of two scenarios might evolve - either this tech becomes cheaper and more accessible to all (hard to get away from) - or only it will be only for the rich and we start seeing divergent human evolution with those that can afford to participate in the new world and those that can't.

See the new movie trailer called "Elysium" - not that far fetched. Farther back - Gattaca...Planet of the Apes...Time Machine. And these are just pop-culture fiction.

We've known this divergence is coming for a long time and modern culture has been fascinated by eugenics since the 19th century.

Do we foresee the future, or will it?

I wouldn't buy quite as much into uploading concsciousness as some futurists want you to. There are still very large obstacles to be overcome. Keep in mind, a lot of the people you mention have books they want to sell you before you upload yourself, so they have a vested interest in what you're aware (and not aware) of.

In the next 100 years WWIII will break out, and it will start in Asia, either between Pakistan and India, or North Korea and Japan.

We will not discover alternative energy sources that can truely replace oil.

We will not travel to the stars, and the furthest we will go is Mars, a manned mission. Technical problems will prevent the astronauts from returning, and space travel will fall flat on it's rear end.

We will discover remnants of very ancient cultures (not civilizations) on the bottom of the Persian Gulf, the North Sea and the Caribbean with the same level of advancement as seen in ancient Anatolia (Göbekli Tepe, Çatalhöyük). Great, but no flying saucers, aliens, magic crystals or ray guns.

Many countries will experience mass movements of people because of water shortage, and that will be the cause for several localized wars.

The US will break up after a short and rather 'mild' civil war. The EEC will break up too, France and Germany will be first to break away from the EEC.

Rising sea levels will cause many to go on the move. People from Bangladesh will try to enter the surrounding countries, but many will be massacred.

People from the Netherlands will move en masse to Scandinavia, Canada, Belgium and Germany after a Muslim terrorist attack that blasted the sea dikes which will drown millions in their sleep (around half past 3 in the morning). These countries will have invited the surviving Dutch, but will regret it soon later.

Most of the tropical rain forests will have disappeared in a century from now, and parts of the Amazon jungle will be desert. The up-thing will be that the remnants of an unknown South American civilization will be discovered that will rewrite the history of the Americas. And not only of the Americas.

The Arctic will be completely free of ice the year round, and trade between what's then Russia and North America will top. Also a lot of oil will be found in the area, and after decades of shortage, all will be well again.

China will invade Russia, and take over everything., including the oil. The Russians will not put up much of a fight, and all - Chinese and Russians - will all be living happily ever after.

People will settle on the ice free areas of Antarctica; it will bloom and will look like present day Scandinavia. Well, they will be the outcasts and the desperate, but they will survive.... and thrive. And the Antarcticans will be the ones who will push technologcal and social advancement to a stage never seen before in human history. The Antarcticans will be the ones who will find a way to travel to the stars, in about 300 years time.

==

I hope they will still be able to brew beer.

Cheers.
