The Israeli government knows that no country can be an island. They HAVE to have a level of acceptance in the world if they are to survive but they also have to balance that with defending their citizens from being killed at will by their enemies. It's quite a dance and when they get pushed into a corner by the nations who demand they give more than they feel they can, the dance is going to change.
