Kaa-Tzik Posted September 25, 2013 #51 Share Posted September 25, 2013 (edited) Here's a point. Let us say that poster X is actually working for their government. Well, does this actually matter? I ask because if you, as poster Y, is debating with poster X because you totally disagree with what they say, you are at least arguing, in way, with the government you have an issue with, and not a third parties version of what they think their government's position is, or simply a version they want to put forward or even their own mad views on the subject. Would not anybody want to debate with Obama or Putin or Assad, or at least their mouthpiece, as appossed to "Joe public" with an axe to grind. There is a bizarre scenario that Obama or even Putin in person has been accused on this forum for being a paid shill for their government. Who knows, weird stuff happens at times. Frank Merton Posted September 27, 2013 #55 Share Posted September 27, 2013 Well I understand the sentiment, but the best defense against any sort of troll is to ignore it.
Babe Ruth Posted September 27, 2013 #56 Share Posted September 27, 2013 I think the problem is a forum is meant to be used for discussion. When someone posts a youtube video with no content they can't really be said to be partaking in a discussion, can they? It depends on each case. Sometimes the video is relevant, many times it is not. sam12six Posted September 27, 2013 #57 Share Posted September 27, 2013 It depends on each case. Sometimes the video is relevant, many times it is not. Personally I have no problem with someone posting a video or any other link in an existing discussion. I loathe it when they start a thread that way with no thought of their own added to it. Imagine having a discussion that has something to do with kids: Your pulling out your wallet and flashing a photo of your own kids might be comment enough. On the other hand, imagine walking up to someone at random, flashing that same photo, then walking away. It would be understandable that they find you annoying.
Waspie_Dwarf Posted September 28, 2013 #58 Share Posted September 28, 2013 The best defense against an Internet troll is .... a BIGGER troll. No, the best way to get banned from this site is to be a bigger troll.
thunkerdrone Posted September 28, 2013 #59 Share Posted September 28, 2013 they've grown even more sophisticated and will actually befriend site owners and webmasters to infiltrate forums as moderators and then abuse the power they have as mods. It has happened on the David Icke forum to name at least one. Sometimes entire forums are set up by the government as controlled opposition. There was a forum similar to these called The Black Vault, and once they lost control of the information there they wiped the entire site and started over again fresh.
