Babe Ruth Posted October 11, 2013 #26 Share Posted October 11, 2013 You are aware there are SEVERAL different third parties, right? Exactly! The Green Party, the Libertarian Party, and a handful of others. Trouble is the American electorate is so brainwashed about the bankrupt 2 party system that they are unable to leave it, rather like political junkies.
Aus Der Box Skeptisch Posted October 11, 2013 #27 Share Posted October 11, 2013 The Tea Party!!!! Really!!!! They are the problem! If anything throw the libertarians in with the dem and Gop. That would actually make a difference.
Aus Der Box Skeptisch Posted October 11, 2013 #28 Share Posted October 11, 2013 Constitutionalists would be just fine with me also I suppose. Heck I identify myself as a moderate liberal leaning Constitutionalists anyways for lack of a better definition.

Jeremiah65 Posted October 11, 2013 #30 Share Posted October 11, 2013 (edited) That's not a solution, it will just add to the problem. The solution the US needs is the same the UK needs; the dismantling of the Party Political system and the instatement of a system allowing only candidates who run as individuals representing their constituents (Independents), not a political Party or organisation. I don't think we really care what the UK has done....I think we told them to p!ss off (politically speaking) about 237 years ago. There is nothing wrong with a politcal party as long as it is not iron fisted like the two main parties are today. The "Tea Party" was once a decent movement but got hi-jacked...and they are too closely tied to Republicanism and the moral majority. The fastest growing party in the states is the Libertarian party...they will eventually overtake the Republicans when people realize and remember what "freedom" actually means. We can only hope the "other one" dies a similar death...and soon. The Repubs and the Dems need to go the way of the Whigs and Federalist....extinction. travelnjones Posted October 11, 2013 #31 Share Posted October 11, 2013 The problem with the Libertarian party is they don't want to screw us over. Since when has that ever worked in Washington?

Sir Wearer of Hats Posted October 12, 2013 #33 Share Posted October 12, 2013 I think the problem is that noone knows there IS a third party option. All people hear about are Republicans and Democrats (or Republicrats and Democricans). They don't hear about the Libertarians - unless it's to ridicule them and imply they're part of the "opposition" (so in the Republicans are in power, the Libertarians are Democrats and versa visa).
andy4 Posted October 12, 2013 #34 Share Posted October 12, 2013 If a third party does arise, let's all hope that they aren't very fond of "donations."
Drayno Posted October 12, 2013 #35 Share Posted October 12, 2013 The problem with third parties is that they bring change - sometimes radical, fundamental change. Just look at the rise of the Nazi Party as a historical example. If we're fed up with the present situation we might give power to the wrong people. The problem with politics is every person you can potentially vote-in is a damn wolf in sheep clothing. They're all filthy animals just clawing at the back door.
Raptor Witness Posted October 12, 2013 #36 Share Posted October 12, 2013 The Arab Spring will come to the U.S., and when it does, there won't be a party of two. Three will make four, and one will make two, so that the breeze blows U.S. by four ways and in two parts, to become a mountain of wind.
Shiloh17 Posted October 12, 2013 #37 Share Posted October 12, 2013 (edited) The whole 2 party sytem is ridicuoluos. Leonardo Posted October 12, 2013 #38 Share Posted October 12, 2013 The problem with the Libertarian party is they don't want to screw us over. Since when has that ever worked in Washington? I would caveat that with a "yet". You cannot say anything about what they would do when in power until they get into power.
Frank Merton Posted October 12, 2013 #39 Share Posted October 12, 2013 You don't want more parties; that just makes for more politics. What you want is no parties. Get rid of party primaries and have wide open primaries. Get rid of party machines with strict enforcement and straight party ballots. Get rid of giving money to parties. questionmark Posted October 12, 2013 #40 Share Posted October 12, 2013 If a third party does arise, let's all hope that they aren't very fond of "donations." Unless the electoral system is majorly overhauled a third party has no chance without donations. As long as it does not happen on TV in the US it has not happened. And it costs a lot of many to be frequently enough on TV to happen.
preacherman76 Posted October 12, 2013 #41 Share Posted October 12, 2013 if 60 percent supposedly wants this then maybe they should vote for a third party... The libertarian and the green party are the biggest ones That wont matter. Look at what they did to Ron Paul in the primaries. The game is rigged. The 2 parties will never let go of their power grip. Even if they have to remove the votes of entire counties.

The problem is there already is one of those. It is similar in some ways but is very "religious and moral" in it's fundamentals...I am fine with the name "Libertarian"... http://www.constitutionparty.com/ http://www.lp.org/

Jeremiah65 Posted October 12, 2013 #49 Share Posted October 12, 2013 (edited) Well Cyberken.... I am totally against anyone telling another human being what they can put in or take out of their bodies. When the Tea Party and the Moral Majority give up the idea that they own the rights to another person's body...then perhaps I will pay attention to them. Until that time...I will choose to "Live Free"... Edited October 12, 2013 by Jeremiah65
