Jet stream changing

questionmark

Recommended Posts

CHICAGO, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- The jet stream is taking a slower, more circuitous route across North America, the result being longer-lasting, more extreme weather patterns -- scientists say.

Presenting their findings at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, held recently in Chicago, researchers Jennifer Francis and Mark Serreze said the change in jet stream behavior is likely due to rapidly warming temperatures in the Arctic.

“This does seem to suggest that weather patterns are changing and people are noticing that the weather in their area is not what it used to be,” Francis, a professor at Rutger University’s Institute of Marine and Coastal Sciences, told meeting attendees.

Must be Obama's fault.

Don't you know, every single thing that goes wrong in American is Obama's fault.

On a serious note, it'll be interesting to see how the stream continues to change.

If it causes more and longer droughts in California, we will be in a lot of hurt.

Its snowed here more and been colder than it has in a long time and I'm sick of it.

California is in a world of hurt, If they try to irrigate by pumping water out of the aquifers they are going to end up in even more trouble. Other places out west are having severe prolonged droughts.

You mean everyone has finally stopped blaming Bush for everything? About time. But, it is most likely Obama's fault :)

I hear California is about to get more water than they know what to do with. Stay tuned.

BTW: the "Noahkian Storms" of 1862 set rainfall and flood records in California and Oregon that in some cases were more than four times anything that has happened since. California knows how to have a flood.

It is kind of crazy how dependent we are on the ocean currents for stable weather. I do wish these kind of changes got made attention to more.
