Anti-gay comments in UK can now land you with a seven year prison term

full article http://in.news.yahoo.com/071009/139/6lpub.html

Here we have another cynical attempt by this government, looking to bring in, uber-liberal laws, to appease another minority, and pocket their votes.....

However, the result is, another infringement on our freedom of speech.....

So perhaps i could get locked up, if a gay fetishist overhears me telling a harmless gay joke down the pub.......

Again, another indirect attack on Birtains, mainstream population, who, when it comes to it, still are the backbone of this country.....

perhaps these simpltons in parliment should remember that!

A gay fetishist? You make it sound so wrong.

Nevertheless, I think it's ridiculous that this law is being considered. I've no problem with people being gay, and I would be offended if someone told me or anyone else a joke about homosexuals that was derogatory or over-excessive. Nevertheless, I don't think they should make it outright illegal.

Firstly i say fetishist, not becasue i feel its wrong, i just feel it is an appropriate term...people get their kicks in all sorts of ways! im quite at ease with the whole subject...

Moving along, I commend your attitude, but ofcourse, what one considers acceptably non-excessive, another will consider a matter for the police.....All based on someones, uber sensibility...or feminine fragility!

This has got to be kidding, ok, being agressive using gay slang, i understand.

but i tease all my friends straight or gay about things being gay.

For example, 4 friends at a drunken bbq just out of sauna, started wrestling, mucking around, and i said it was the gayist thing ive ever seen, did i mention they were naked, everyone laughs no more said, some people at the party were gay, and what ill get prison for that.

now that law is so weak its gay,,lol, lol, lol

Yeah, I had a feeling that you didn't mean it in that sense. I just wanted to clarify :tu:

It's true, everyone has a different sense of morality, and with that sense of morality comes different moral boundaries. I suppose that if you know the person well enough, you know when you're going too far. You just have to be careful around some people...

I dispise PC'ness.

PC'ness is the reason we have to oh-so-careful with our (lack of) freedom of speech. It's disgusting and I hope this law and otheres like it are not passed. Labour need to **** and Brown needs to step down. He can't run a country - he sold a third of our gold UNDER it's value. He isn't the kind of leader I'd want...

I don't like Cameron much either, but atleast he has good plans AND he isn't Brown or labour - another plus to the Tory.

Ugh... I can't wait till I move country v.v; The Britain our forefathers fought and died for is gone. They fought for our freedom, and now it's being taken away.

Ofcourse Louie, for example, the barman at my local Pub is gay, so when he is pulling my pint of Ale, I often say in a camp voice "Ooohh, I bet you've pulled a few pints in your time", then we both laugh!

Or when im with friends, and he brings our drinks to the table, ill shout in an authoritative voice "Backs against the walls lads"

its just a laugh, been saying it for years, ive not been kicked out...

Laws to protect gays in the United Kingdom just got tougher. Now, if anyone is caught making a comment against gays, he or she could land themselves in prison for seven years.

That is so gay... :hmm:

Tbh, they can't enforce it. Unless it's going to be a "He said she said" playground banter without evidence.

How can they even do this? It seems the more and more I see laws like this being brought up the more I think people want to live in a perfect little bubble were nothing will get to them.

Interesting to see that the proposed law doesn't include slants against straight people... I wonder why that is? :hmm:

You'd be surprised of all that is possible in a country without a written constitution (other than the Magna Charta)

Its all about the Public, being forced to accept Gay fetish as a mainstream, and perfectly normal phenomenon,

now, although i dont have a problem with it, the fact that it is away from the norm, makes it a target for a good joke! whats the problem..

I mean, it seems, that your ordinary man on the street, cant laugh at anything these days!......Thank god we can still laugh at fat people!, their all we have left!....Hmmm, but for how long?

No lord scrummage you must walk small so they can walk tall and make hetero jokes and breeder jokes because as we all know those types of jokes are not insulting at all, they are merely jokes whilst gay jokes are meant to undermine the whole 'movement' Just think of it in terms as if it was the 1800s and the gay rights movement was just like the 'free the slaves' movement. Except remove nobility, importance and give a sht factor.

Sadly Stixxman, you are quite correct! I personally refuse to bow down to these new, and ever more unreasonable minority demands!
