No parent should ever have to bury their child... Especially considering how this poor child died...

It is strange that Maria apparently displayed no excessive sadness, and seemed generally happy...

True... But usually kids are less 'concieling' about their emotions - particulary being on the edge of puberty...

I agree, and I think it's notable that the father's death occurred years before.
