questionmark Posted September 4, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 4, 2007 Britain concerned about Chinese weapons Published: Sept. 4, 2007 at 2:23 AM KABUL, Afghanistan, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Chinese weapons are getting into the hands of the Taliban who are using them to attack British troops in Afghanistan. Britain has complained about the arms trafficking to Chinese officials, who have agreed to investigate the situation, the BBC reported. Chinese arms reportedly have been recovered in the aftermath of several attacks by the Islamic fundamentalists on British and U.S. troops. Afghan officials also have privately told the BBC the Taliban has started using sophisticated Chinese weapons. China had said earlier its weapons exports are “in strict accordance with our law and our international obligations.” Afghan officials were quoted as saying the weapons in the hands of the Taliban include Chinese-made surface-to-air missiles, anti-aircraft guns, landmines, rocket-propelled grenades and components for roadside bombs. "Chinese HN-5 anti-aircraft missiles are with the Taliban, we know this ... and we are worried where do the Taliban get them. Some of these weapons have been made recently in Chinese factories,” one senior Afghan official told the BBC. Full Story, Source:UPI
