A mysterious animal which roamed the Earth 10,000 years ago with the body of a rodent, legs of a camel and the nose of an elephant is related to modern horses, scientists have discovered.

The bones of the South American native ungulate Macrauchenia patachonica baffled Charles Darwin when he dug them up in Uruguay 180 years ago.

And in heaven the angels spoke to the lord,"Father we have parts left over." and the lord replied "Put them in the pot together and let's see what we get." And the lord looked upon the creature and said,"Meh, this'll confuse them."

EDIT:

From Article:

The researchers were able to conclusively show that the closest living relatives of these species were the perissodactyls, a group that includes horses, rhinos, and tapirs.

Ha! Tapirs.....

Most Horse evolution occurred in the Americas--and they weren't alone. A large extended family was present, as well. http://news.discovery.com/animals/strange-animals-reveal-bizarre-past-of-horses-photos-150318.htm

Yes and no. That seems to be excerpted from the complete article I posted. If I'd noticed it prior, I would have added mine to it.
