Rolling Gently (A Three part Haiku)

Posted by sarah_444 , in poetry 08 August 2012 · 525 views

muffled thunder rolls

along the grey sky searching

lightning hides from view

while closing my eyes

leaves rushed with the wind become

crashing ocean waves

sitting on the stairs

listening, breathing, being

I welcome the drops

(I wrote this last week as I sat outside waiting for a storm to come in.  I heard the thunder from inside, it was a very "gentle" soothing thunder and it drew me right outside.  The sky was light grey and there was no lightning or immediate rain, but as I sat on the deck stairs alone, watching the sky I felt the most serene sense of calm come over me without any effort or intention.
It was peace, and it flooded over me, keeping me there for half an hour, even as the first drops of rain fell on my face and shoulders. )

That's why I love the rain (and thunder). :)

You and me both, Sarah. :D

Very nice.  I love the haiku format, and that you have extended it to capture the feelings you get.  wish I could have been there with you.
