National Review VS Trump

questionmark

Recommended Posts

Donald Trump is "a menace to conservatism" who should not be elected president of the United States, 22 conservative leaders argue in the new issue of National Review.

Essays by the conservative thinkers were posted online Thursday night and will be included in the conservative journal's Feb. 15 print edition, which goes to press Jan. 27.

The magazine also includes an editorial, titled "Against Trump," that concludes: "Donald Trump is a menace to American conservatism who would take the work of generations and trample it underfoot in behalf of a populism as heedless and crude as The Donald himself."

GOP drops National Review from debate sponsorship over Trump attack

Another publication has been dropped from co-sponsorship of a Republican debate because it editorialized against Donald Trump — and this time it's the venerable National Review.

"Tonight, a top official with the RNC called me to say that National Review was being dis-invited," wrote publisher Jack Fowler. "The reason: Our 'Against Trump' editorial and symposium."

He added: "We expected this was coming. Small price to pay for speaking the truth about The Donald."

I have a feeling a lot of the people in Washington, left and right, are afraid Trump will tell everyone who's back pocket they are in and might end their superpacs. Also Trump has the audacity to actually want to replace Obama care with something better so everyone can go to the doctor and not end up in bankruptcy over it. Apparently protecting our borders really isn't a concern for them either so I imagine Trump scares them on many levels. Probably a little jealousy thrown in too.

That's exactly what's happening. These old boys have had a long and profitable run of the taxpayers for the last few decades. Trump comes in, completely self funded and makes accusations about campaign funding in one of the first debates of the election. Anyone else remember that? There must be a cold shiver running up the spine of these corporate whores politicians. Elect Trump, over turn the apple cart and break the system. It would be different if our current model was sustainable but it's not sustainable - not at all. We're still headed for the edge of an economic cliff here and people want more of the same?

A new poll by Florida Atlantic University Business and Economics Polling Initiative, released Wednesday, shows Donald Trump leading by a wide margin in the sunshine swing state. According to the latest numbers from FAU BEPI, Trump has opened a 12-point lead since November and is the choice of nearly half the Republicans polled.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee were both polling at 3% among Iowa Republicans.

Yes I remember what Trump said and they are running scared. They wanted Bush and the same old bs in Washington, someone they can control and people are sick to death of it. If Trump is elected and they don't treat him fairly they know they will be replaced also.

Your naivety is cute. Before you know Trump will raise the taxes for the middle-class and low income and will lower the taxes for corporations and higher incomes.

Anyway Trump won`t become president all polls say if he becomes the republican candidate, the reps will lose, but let me guess "the elections are rigged" if that happens :w00t:

Your desire to elect another talking head is depressing.

Do you know why campaign platforms and speeches are important? It's to convince people you are worth voting for. In 2016, it's pretty much accepted fact that no candidate will actually follow through with their promises. Obama is our latest and greatest example of that. But that doesn't stop voters from having hope. The hope that maybe, just maybe, this candidate is going to do it.

You're probably right in your predictions about Trump, but you've not been proven right. Better to throw this "hail mary" pass with Trump than to walk off the field because the other candidates are just carbon copies of the last 30 years of candidates. We can't survive much more of the same.

Not to pick on you Ashotep, but does Trump really have a plan in that regard? Replacing Obamacare? I thought the plan was to repeal it.

Well, no. As you can read here introducing something "better" is one of his 76 election promises (so far). Given that so far, besides telling us how good he is, he has not specified anything what he wants to do I am lead to believe that he does not know either.

Same difference. If you repeal it, you should replace it with something better. That shouldn’t be too difficult. The Republicans have offered a long list of viable options.

are those 76 ways how to ruin a modern country, some of his proposals are economical and political wise so bad I wonder if he is on drugs.

BTW: Target and kill the relatives of terrorists. wtf, so someone has deserved to die because someone of his/her relatives has gone mad. So the girl which was interviewed by CNN, whose brother converted to Islam and became a terrorist should also be eliminated. Trump should be in jail, I guess his daddy's money saved him from that fate.

It’s an ugly thought but I doubt he would purposely raise taxes on the middle- and low income- classes, but it could turn out that these groups will have to start paying their fair share. But then that should motivate the Progressives to start cutting welfare and entitlement programs in order to lower these taxes.

Anyway Trump won`t become president all polls say if he becomes the republican candidate, the reps will lose, but let me guess "the elections are rigged" if that happens :w00t:

Let’s wait until the primaries have presented a trend. So what is the thinking here? That if Trump was out of the picture that his delegates would go to the establishment candidates? Isn’t that the reason Trump has the lead he does is that no one wants the establishment? If none of the establishment candidates can beat Trump, how do they expect to beat Sanders or Biden?

And yet Trump predictably brushes it off.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2016/01/22/trump_responds_to_national_review_they_want_to_get_publicity_its_a_dying_paper.html

"The National Review is a dying dying paper," Trump said. "It's circulation is way down. Not very many people read him anymore. People don't even think about The National Review. I guess they want to get a little publicity. But that's a dying paper. I got to tell you, it's pretty much a dead paper."

It just shows how nervous people are getting with the possibility of him being called "President Donald J. Trump"

Well, according to your Washington Post --76 election promises(so far) #7. says what he promises to do in replacing Obamacare(#6.)

#6. was replacing Obama care with "something terrific".. "so much better, much better, much better"

#7. was knock down the regulatory walls between States for health insurance making plans available nationally instead of regionally

I am 99 % sure that he won`t become president.

Would you bet your paycheck on it?

I guess “Modern Country” must mean “Social Democracy”? A Social Democracy doesn’t have much longer to exist anyway. But this country isn’t a Social Democracy, it is a Constitutional Republic and we are the future.

BTW: Target and kill the relatives of terrorists. wtf, so someone has deserved to die because someone of his/her relatives has gone mad. It’s not particularly the *relatives*. It should be limited to wife and children. That’s how you control an enemy. Destroy what he loves. All fair in love and war.

Trump is really a litmus test. He’s culling the herd.

My review on Trump's suggestions:

Build a wall along the southern border....taller than the Great Wall of China

useless and expensive, at least some jobs would be created.

Make Mexico pay for the wall. If Mexico refuses, then the United States will impound all remittance payments taken from the wages of illegal immigrants, cut foreign aid, institute tariffs, cancel visas for Mexican business leaders and diplomats, and increase fees for visas, border-crossing cards and port use.

1. This would hurt the US more than Mexico.

2.he can`t take anything from the wages of illegal immigrants (which work for less than a citizen), because they are not registered Mr Dumb

3. Mexico won`t pay, lol why should they care.

If I become president, we're all going to be saying 'Merry Christmas' again."

just dumb he can't force people to say what he wants

Get rid of Common Core....... might even eliminate the Department of Education.

Who needs education, Africa shows us noone needs education, if there was education people wouldn't vote for him. Another dumb suggestion

The Environmental Protection Agency might also disappear.

yeah right **** the environment, I mean she gives us fresh air, ease and resources, but who cares lets just make a mess out of it and turn everything into a big dump. Another stupid suggestion

I will take care of women,

sounds like a threat to me

Pick Supreme Court justices who are "really great legal scholars."

Sounds like a two years old kid talking

Target and kill the relatives of terrorists.

allready mentioned how sick that is

Shut down parts of the Internet

yeah make sure evertyhing is according to Mr. Dumbs world views.Another stupid suggestion

Bring back waterboarding, which the Obama administration considers torture. Trump has said he's willing to use interrogation techniques that go even further than waterboarding.

I guess ISIS is his role model,

Drop that "dirty, rotten traitor" Bowe Bergdahl out of an airplane into desolate Afghanistan without a parachute

I think some medieval rulers were more civilized

Bring back jobs from China --

yeah lol, he will need some magic or lower the wages even more.

I will be the greatest jobs president that God ever created.

religious nut.

Force Nabisco to once again make Oreos in the United States. And bully Apple into making its "damn computers" and other products here.

That guy only made it in business because of his daddy. You can't force a company to produce wherever you like, unless you want to introduce communism.

Impose new taxes on many imports into the country

Nice idea that surly will help the economy, after he lost China and Mexico he will lose the EU as trading partner as well. And the products after cutting wages will be a lot more expensive.

Get rid of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.

**** the consumers right, more power to the corporations! Another stupid suggestion

On his first day in office, Trump would get rid of gun-free zones at military bases and in schools.

.....

...etc

I think most people will agree this whole obamacare was set up to fail from the start paving a path towards a nationally controlled plan anyways. It more than likely won't be fully nationalized like people who assume Canada's is national which its not - just heavily subsidized out to Provinces.

Regardless what he wants to do. You still contradicted yourself saying you're led to believe he doesn't know what he's going to do.

Well, now if you tell me (or he does) how to implement his "wonderful and better" plan he is going to convince all states to participate (which was the crux of any national healthcare plan before Obamacare) I will admit that he actually does have a plan. But given that the biggest resistance always has come from the individual states I doubt it.

But good try... and perfect analysis 30 years after the discovery that it could not work that way. That was the original Hildebeast plan when Willy was Prezz.
