Still Waters Posted April 14, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 14, 2016 At Wembley last night I experienced what could be the sport of the future. Tiny drones raced out of the players' tunnel and did three laps of the stadium, weaving their way through a slalom course. The races were hard fought and - according to the commentators - full of thrills and spills. The stadium was empty, apart from a box full of journalists protected by a net, but perhaps in a few years' time huge crowds will gather to watch drone racing. We've heard today how ESPN plans to turn drone racing into a major TV sport - but before it's ready for live spectators, a few issues will need to be sorted out. http://www.bbc.co.uk...nology-36045577
seeder Posted April 14, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 14, 2016 (edited) The Arabs are already doing it.... saw it on TV a few days ago Dubai to host World Drone Prix, grand prize $1 millionIn anticipation of the event, the establishment of a governing body - the World Organization for Racing Drones - was also formally announced. AdTech Ad Dubai will host the first 'World Drone Prix' in March, which organisers say will be the world's biggest drone race, with a grand prize of $1 million. Speaking at the last day of the World Air Games at Skydive Dubai's Palm drop zone, Minister of Cabinet Affairs Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi said that the upcoming Drone Prix represents the future of air racing and drone technology. http://www.khaleejti...orld-drone-prix Edited April 14, 2016 by seeder
