Problem with stronghold 2

Recommended Posts

I assumed this would go in this section, seeing as though its more likely a problem with my computer. Anyway, I got Stronghold 2 yesterday, And I played it once and it worked fine. Then when i tired to play it again, it loaded up, and just as it finished, it turned off the game. I've tried reinstalling it, Ive tried updating it, but it just has the same problem each time, My computer meets up to the requirements, so can anyone tell me whats going on!

COULD I PLEASE HAVE THE INFO ASAP, I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO PLAY THIS GAME.

You say it turned off the game, did it give you an error at all? Or just poof and you're back to windows desktop? I'd say update your video drivers and directx but I'm thinking they're ok since it worked fine before... Does the game try to patch when it loads up? I'd check tech support for the site if the game doesn't give you a specific error, maybe even email tech support if possible. They also have a forum which can be found here. It looks like they have a new patch in the works that may fix some more game bugs. :(

Yes, I'm using windows, and It just goes back to my desktop without an error message, I've patched it to the newest version, and It still doesnt work.

ROFL Ouch pyro! At least he didn't say Vista beta/rc1! :o

I'd post on the forums I linked on my last post. They might be able to give you some ideas.

 He doesn't have much of an option, considering the game was only released for PC. Considering you seem to always try to pass yourself off as some kind of computer expert, you're not very helpful.

Anyways, I had this problem with a game once, and I understand it it has to do with the compatibility of the game with the video card. In other words, the make of the card is probably the problem, rather than the specs of the card.

This is really bugging me, I can't really buy a new gfx card just for stronghold 2, 1)It's pointless and 2)I don't have the money. I'll just have to get a processor for my laptop (I can get a processor for a laptop for cheaper then a gfx card)

The thing about the video card that gets me is... it worked before! If it was the video card you would think that it would never work to begin with. But then maybe you were playing on a different patch version which worked and subsequent patches bugged it out? Quite possible, but then I can't say as I know how many patches were released.

On the game forums they mentioned the game patching on start-up possibly causing issues. Do you see anyway to disable that? Maybe a INI file somewhere or possibly a configuration setting you can get to without starting up the game? What about unplugging your ethernet cable (if you're on a broadband connection) so the game can't try to patch? When you uninstalled it, did you do it in safe mode? I don't even know if that even makes a difference nowadays... I'm really just grasping at straws now.

I am pretty bitter at Microsoft, myself. I won't go into the details here, but ugh... I work with it because there is no choice, but there should be. Not having access to the software I need to run just isn't a choice. :hmm:

Care for a game of Monopoly anyone?

I've tried not patching it, it gives you an option to patch it or to leave it, When I uninstalled it i went to the C: Drive and deleted the left over files manually. Im kinda getting annoyed now.

Don't blame ya there. I'll usually wait a good year after a game comes out before buying. They're cheaper and a good bit of the bugs are worked out by that time. Sounds like you did everything right, can't blame this one on the 1d10t error.

The problem is if you are running VISTA after the patch the .exe file isnt secured(?) to run the game. Until they come out with a mass patch for THAT then it will be a while, works fine on XP.

Also you can play it on Vista WITHOUT patching to 1.3.1 look for 1.2 patch if you want to upgrade it somewhat. There is a site out there from SECUrom.com that you can send in the info on it (they have directions on their site somewhere) and they will send you an email with the link to download the new .exe and then BAM works fine on vista again :) Take care

The problem is you updated it. If you didn't update it when you first played that's it. I am running vista service pack 2 on a sony VGN-AR71S it works fine so if you are not connected to the internet when you start stronghold 2 it wont bug you for updates. So try re-installing it then don't update then it should work. Sorry for the delay in the response i only just found this forum. I hope this works!
