Trials for a vaccine that makes you feel sick if you drink alcohol
It doesn't treat already established alcoholism directly .
Lasts for only six months. So you need to get revaccinated every six months.
It's stupid on many levels . I could see it having applications for people in a ten step program ,but aren't there already pills that do the same thing ?
Unless its for people who forget to take their pills .
Dunno. Everyone knows what I think of vaccines so....I'm dubious at best .
There are pills that do this but they have to be taken daily and if a person decides in a moment of weakness to say screw it! The pills are useless. If a person took the shot then they would HAVE to be careful about consumption. Alcoholism kills - and anything that can help a person trying to quit is good imo. A person who wants to go on a binge a few weeks after quitting but doesn't because of this medicine might not ever drink again if they could go 6 months without a drink. That article was the most comprehensive ,so I used it even though it was old .

Or it could be used on habitual DUI offenders, who couldn't be trusted to take the pill.
