Strange Lights Question

Recommended Posts

I think I've asked this before but thought I would give it another try since there

are a few new members here, and I can't remember what the original answers

were (I blame the alkeehol)...

I once read in a book a story (supposedly true) about a coastal village in which

strange lights were seen. These lights were the source of much speculation and

eventually a female figure based a cult upon them and had many followers from

the local community.

I could be wrong but I thought the location was Wales and the name of the

village was something like 'Elgin' but not.

Any ideas anyone? I know I read it somewhere, but can't find anything on it.

Any help would be much appreciated. smile.gif

This SITE offers a detailed and rather lengthy account. It didn't really have anything to do with a cult, the phenomena occured in relation to a 'Welsh Methodists revival' movement at the time. The lights supposedly were 'manifested' or at least attributed to Mary Jones while she conducted her revivals. By many accounts the phenomena was quite ambiguous, as the 'lights' were not always visible to everyone. Yet an aura of mystery still lingers as to their origin and meaning.

Thanks Magik. A considerably longer report on the phenomenon.

However, my knighthood speech has now reached saturation point. I'll have to

put you on my christmas card list instead.

Cheers. tongue.gif
