Still Waters Posted October 6, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2012 An airline security worker has been suspended after failing to spot a fake bomb as it passed through the X ray machine. Manchester Airport said it had launched an investigation into the incident. The Department for Transport carries out regular dummy runs at UK airports to ensure security is up to scratch. A spokesman for the airport said: "We can confirm a security officer has been suspended but we cannot comment further as there is an ongoing investigation." http://www.bbc.co.uk...hester-19856533
+and-then Posted October 6, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 6, 2012 I have often wondered why Islamic militants have not used the gaping holes in airport security to bring down many aircraft. If a person is willing to die then they can check a bag full of c-4 or something similar, into the baggage hold then detonate it remotely or on a timer after the plane is airborne. With the exception of El Al I don't think any other airline has the resources to scan and sniff EVERY bag that is checked. A single aircraft brought down in this way would absolutely cripple the US airline industry. At least for awhile. To implement such checks for every bag would slow travel to a crawl....
