The Silver Thong Posted June 3, 2006 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2006 I just thought this was pretty damn cool. The gyroscope working with for legs and counter balancing is awsome. http://www.filecabi.net/video/crazy-robotic-mule.html
Fluffybunny Posted June 3, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 3, 2006 I found that a while back and for the first few seconds I though that it was two people together kind of like the horse costumes...it is rather odd...freaky, but cool at the same time... Tiggs Posted June 3, 2006 #3 Share Posted June 3, 2006 Moved so realistically that I had to double check a couple of times to make sure it wasn't just two guys hunched over. Wow. The balance appears to be pretty awesome. Looks like all it needs is a navigation system...
ivytheplant Posted June 3, 2006 #4 Share Posted June 3, 2006 Absolutely! I was thinking how amazing the gyroscopes were and the kind of computer required to just make it walk. And then the guy kicked it and it managed to stay upright. Really amazing, though it's scary-looking. I certainly wouldn't want to see that coming for me! Froggy618157725 Posted June 6, 2006 #6 Share Posted June 6, 2006 That's amazing... I want one I can hardly imagine the work it would take to make that. Even with a mechanical device capable of it, the programming would be intense. I guess they used some sort of fuzzy logic? That's very good for calculating stuff like that on the fly, from what I know.
War-Junkie Posted June 7, 2006 #7 Share Posted June 7, 2006 if i looked out my window at night and saw it i would be sh**en my self untill i realize it is a robot it seems like a dead goat or sum
+joc Posted June 7, 2006 #8 Share Posted June 7, 2006 Really amazing, though it's scary-looking. I certainly wouldn't want to see that coming for me! Can you imagine that thing as big as a house, complete with all kinds of weapons? Can anyone say Terminator?
MarcusGreyMantel Posted June 7, 2006 #9 Share Posted June 7, 2006 Greetings, I read something online about this 4-6 months ago. The U.S. Army is/was field testing and calling it a "mule". Can carry up to 150 lbs of stuff (properly loaded) but needs a "driver" for the remote.
Brian McMalley Posted June 7, 2006 #10 Share Posted June 7, 2006 That thing scares me. I would have to say that the way it lifts it's legs makes it even creepier. If they got rid of the annoying sound it makes, you would hardly know it was coming on a dark night.
shikon1 Posted June 10, 2006 #11 Share Posted June 10, 2006 Man that thing moves awkward lol, especially when it was walking through the mud and snow.
crouton Posted June 11, 2006 #12 Share Posted June 11, 2006 Very cool, but creepy as well. Had to do a double take to see it wasn't two people bent over. Ugh. I would not want that thing walking up to me.
+DieChecker Posted June 12, 2006 #13 Share Posted June 12, 2006 It would be really cool to have when going on long hikes. If you could somehow hook it up for solar power. Strap on a light cover to make it look more like an animal. Probably keep the bears away.
frogfish Posted June 17, 2006 #14 Share Posted June 17, 2006 It could be used as surveillance for the army!
