Still Waters Posted June 11, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 11, 2014 They say an elephant never forgets, and presumably this tourist won't forget the day he stared down one of the biggest animals on the planet. The intrepid adventurer is a little too close for comfort from the very start of the video, as he is filmed standing a few metres away from the giant mammal. http://metro.co.uk/2...ailand-4758388/ I'm thinking it could have been a mock charge. In which case the elephant would have stopped anyway.

Q-C Posted June 11, 2014 #3 Share Posted June 11, 2014 (edited) Idk, somethin' smells fishy or crazy. Not sure which one. You can see the "tourist" put his hand up in a stopping motion to the elephant. Who is not going to budge and think that raising your hand will defuse the beast or lesson the hit, unless he knew it would help? Like I said, fishy or crazy... This might be the kind of thing you get away with once, I would not bet on him surviving another close encounter. Never irritate an animal many times your size and weight, they just might get ticked off and make a pizza out of you.

It actually reminded me of a story my ex told me, there is a drive through nation park in South Africa somewhere and a Japanese couple who did not fully understand the rules (NEVER GET OUT OF YOUR CAR) got out of their car to take photos and try to pet a lion. The lion killed and ate one of them!
