Owlscrying Posted January 5, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 5, 2008 U.K. - Two hundred human skeletons have been exhumed from a huge unmarked grave found at a new supermarket site. The remains, from the 1700s, were on land bought for an Asda in South Shields, Tyne and Wear. And Rev Raymond Burr, of adjacent St Hilda's church, believes the bones - now stored for reburial - may be of plague victims. He said: "There was a plague around that period, which may account for the high number found." go

Well thats my theory...

HollyDolly Posted January 8, 2008 #5 Share Posted January 8, 2008 It doesn't surprise me any. There were various plagues in England during that time period,so probably what they found was a plague pit.It was where they buried the dead, basicly in a mass grave. The island of Poveglia in Italy near Venice was a place they sent people who were dying of bubonic plague(the Black Death). It was featured on Scariest Places on Earth.
