'Like' notifications - But no likey-likey

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

A couple of times in recent weeks/days I have received 'like' notifications (yes, shock horror but some posters do 'like' some of my posts! :P ) but there has been no actual 'like' flagged on any of my posts in the thread the notification states.

I'm not bothered about being 'liked' or not, but just wanted to bring to your attention there may be a 'bugette' in the like or like-notification system.

It's possible someone 'liked' one of your posts and then rescinded it before you looked at the thread.

Okay, I wasn't aware a 'like' could be rescinded. Thanks for clarifying.

Now I feel sad...

Is it possible they were 'accidental' likes, and were withdrawn? I've seen others do this and I've done it myself - hit the Like button when I actually wanted to reply. I don't think you get an Unlike notification, so that would probably give the effect you are seeing..

Added - oops beaten to the punch..

Or it could be that everyone hates you and it's a conspiracy to mess with your head!!! :D :D

if you click on "like" twice it cancels out the first time. It might not be deliberate, it could just have been clicked twice by mistake, there's no need to be too paranoid.

What can also happen, and i do quite often, is click "Like" instead of "Quote", so someone will get a Like and then i'll completely disagree with everything they've said.

My ignorance on this could be down to that I don't use the 'like' button very often...

Often I "like" something I'm posting disagreement with in order to be friendly about it. Of course that only applies when I want to be friendly -- I'm not a hypocrite.

Actually I was recently notified I'd received a like in a thread I have never posted in. When I went to look at it the post belonged to someone else.
