UM-Bot Posted January 15, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2015 The tenth anniversary of Huygens' descent on to the Saturnian moon has been marked with a new video. It doesn't seem like it, but ten years have now passed since the Huygens probe detached from the Cassini spacecraft and headed down through the thick atmosphere of Saturn's enigmatic moon Titan on a journey that no space probe had ever attempted before. paperdyer Posted January 15, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 15, 2015 It doesn't say what studio this was filmed in? Does it matter? A great accomplishment is being honored. Or are you saying the whole thing was staged ala the Moon landings?

Peter B Posted January 17, 2015 #7 Share Posted January 17, 2015 The Bad Astronomer's blog has a link to another video, this one containing a bunch of information about Huygens's descent: http://www.slate.com/blogs/bad_astronomy/2015/01/14/ten_years_on_titan_anniversary_of_the_huygens_probe.html It uses musical notes to help illustrate some of the data. One of the sombre things is the gradually dropping tone as Huygens's signal weakens towards the end of the video.
