Belial Posted March 13, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 13, 2010 (edited) Residents of Woolhampton, a small village in Berkshire, will receive ultra-fast broadband for the first time, after Virgin Media unveiled plans to deliver internet access at speeds of around 50 megabits per second via telegraph poles. Homes in the rural community have traditionally relied on BT's copper network for their web access, because they were beyond the reach of Virgin's existing cable network. Delivering the service over telegraph poles involves installing a new pole, digging up existing cable, and running it over the pole, directly in to people's homes.
