Unfortunately, he's going to sue so he may get to play after all.

By the time that goes to court it will be too late. They're basing it on him trying to hide evidence so he wouldn't win anyway. If he know's what's good for him he'll just keep quiet take his punishment like the man he isn't.

I have to admit it made my day!

Pretty boy takes a hit from the commish!

That smirk and smile on Brady's face makes me want to hurl.

I'm actually surprised Goodell pulled his thumb out of his rear and did something!

IMO, he will go down in history with the likes of Lance Armstrong, and any records he may have set will no longer be valid.

For the NFL to have any credibility, they should have banned him for life and totally stripped him of his Super Bowl victories.

Is that too harsh? LMAO! :D

Money will talk, if he's a big earner for his team and/or the game he'll miraculously be let off or they'll pull a "innocent until proven guilty" move and just keep him in the lineup until there's a court case.

Irony - Brady will return to on-field action against *gasp* the Indianapolis Colts, in Indianapolis. Them's some bad timing for ya

38 year old Tom Brady will likely sit out the first 4 games as he should. My guess is that at his age it's a welcome break as far as the Patriots are concerned. He avoids injury, he will be well rested for the remainder of the season, Garoppolo gets some much needed game action and the Pats save 25% on Brady's salary. Oh and Brady gets to hang out with Gisele :P

Not at all. His coach needs the hammer as well. Both are examples of mediocre performers that excelled because of cheating.

By the way, there's this now too:

Brady accuses NFL over ban

I'm sorry Mr Brady, but your excuses don't wash.

From the article...

But responding on his Facebook page on Wednesday, Brady refuted the charge and wrote: "To suggest that I destroyed a phone to avoid giving the NFL information it requested is completely wrong."

He claimed he had only replaced his phone after his legal team told the NFL the device "would not be subjected to investigation under any circumstances".

In saying he relied on his "legal team", rather than going to source and checking with the NFL, he is basically claiming ignorance - which is no excuse in the eyes of the law. It is his responsibility to find out what actions he wishes to undertake may, or may not, constitute an illegal action.

Of course, my suspicion is that he was fully aware his action of destroying the phone and sim card was to prevent any evidence being found on that device - but he relies on this "advice from his legal team" to give him a way of wriggling out of admitting that.

I was thinking not harsh enough. They should ban Brady and Belicheat. They should force Kraft to sell the team, re-locate them to LA and call them the Ex-Pats!

They should also be forced to vacate their wins, all the way back to when Brady was playing a Michigan and they beat BAMA in the 2000 Orange Bowl!!

Yes, throughout this entire fiasco it's always been someone else's fault according to Brady. I guess these guys really are just big children.

The funniest thing about all of this was Belichick's "Press conference".

The NFL does not have powers of subpoena, and if Tom Brady didn't give permission for his phone to be checked by the governing body, any information found on it would be inadmissible to any investigation because it would be information gained through illegal methods. While I personally believe him to be guilty and knowingly complicit in the deflategate saga, he wasn't under any legal compulsion to hand over his phone, and if I were Brady's legal advice team I'd be telling him not to give over his phone either, regardless of whether there was incriminating evidence or not on it (for all we know there are text messages from a mistress who he is hiding from his wife - if he's married, that is, I don't really follow NFL that much and don't know much about Brady).

I thought SNL did an awesome parody of the whole thing. :)

Actually yeah he is obligated to comply with subpoenas issued by the league in internal investigations thanks to the bargaining agreement with the players union (Go Unions!). Which is why they have been conspicuously quiet in regards to Brady and deflategate. His suspension isn't for cheating, it is for failure to comply in the investigation. Since his suspension is really for the failure to comply more than for having soft balls he, unlike Pete Rose will make it into the hall of fame and without an asterisk (ala Barry Bonds).

I doubt that. Where did you get that information?

That will depend on if the suspension was for cheating or non-compliance. They actually haven't specified to the public which. I think the suspension was for actively participating in tampering with balls through instructions to equipment managers, the phone destruction (I think) came after the suspension but before the appeal hearing, so suspended for cheating.

Cheater. Disgrace. Asterix.

And I'm not vehement because my hawks lost, it's because I feel if they let the Pats off for cheating again then there is no integrity to the game. It may as well be the WWE if they look the other way when teams cheat.
