It has happened to me before but I don't think it's anything unusual.

I too have experienced this. I've jerked myself awake, just as I'm dropping off thinking that I'm falling over. I've also experienced sleep paralysis, I woke up, not being able to move for a few seconds, it felt as though there was a great weight on top of me, it was very scary. These weird things happen to us but is totally normal.

Hehe, it happens to me too, I have a post in mysteries of mind, space, and time forum about it. And I know someone else who made a post about the same thing! What a coincidence! Or maybe everyone's just copying me rolleyes.gif

I was half asleep so I was dreaming or rather hallucinating that I was slipping and I practically felt my leg jerk!

I've had experiences with almost falling asleep and jerking myself (and my hubby) awake. I'm not sure what causes it, and it doesn't happen all the time...just once in a while. Sorry that isn't much help! sad.gif

everyone gets the falling feeling , my mom saw a show and they found that when people experience it is mostly when they are really exhausted, l guess its the bodies way of telling you to sleep 'because l'm tired'. grin2.gif

Yay! I got to answer your question!

A 'falling feeling" is a common feeling people get when they are about to astrally project. Did you hear any strange or funny noises? That also (sometimes) happens when someone is on the verge of projecting.

More on projecting here, here, and here. laugh.gif

Some says that our soul get away from the body while we are sleeping and the falling sensation happens when the soul reenter the body abrubtly

Yah I agree, it has something to do with your body.

My sis told me that theres these levels of sleep. One level is where you are in between sleep and awakeness (Haha Made up that word I think.). Hypnotists use that level in order to unlock memories. All of this has to do with your brain going to subconsciousness.

I have Sleep Apnea , where I stop breathing while asleep. To have it diagnosed I spent a couple of nights sleeping at the Hospital , with my head and body covered with sticky patch electrodes. After the test they showed me the computer read out , showing the levels ,and depth of my sleep pattern.

And up setting to the nurse doing the monitoring , cause I stopped breathing for over a minute a couple of times , once so long she woke me and told me to BREATH! I sleep with a machine that forces air down my nose while I sleep now.

Any way most State Universitys and some Hospitals have sleep study programs that if you want you can volunteer for. Heck some even pay you to sleep. Look into it in your area if your interested . thumbsup.gif

I the falling thing too man, but I haven't experienced it since I moved into my new place... I also sometimes hear a really loud noise when I'm on the verge of falling asleep, like someone yelling in my ear, that jerks me away. I have a lot of sleep problems...

The sudden jerk many of you experience when waking up is your astral body being pulled back into your physical body. If you are near your physical body, think about being near/in it, or are in danger or feel like you are, you will return to your body. The jerk is you being "snapped" back in by your astral cord. Look here, here, and here.

This isn't "Astral Projection" nor is it your "soul" jerking away. It's just because your blood rushes to one part of your body quicker and disturbs your sleep. Please google these things before you post. It's happened to me to, it happens to everyone.

if you practice relaxation techniques you can get the floating/spinning sensation as well. it's really quite pleasant.

Well, I would get that falling sensation if I spent a day at a rollercoaster park. So yah, just like Nadal said, its probally the blood rushing around your boddy.

I know an easier way to get the floating *and* the falling sensations. :D

Of course, the next day you wind up with the "hangover" sensations.

Yeah, totaly normal. Its when you're falling asleep and your body is expending some extra energy by giving you a li'l' jerk. Scary though.

I felt a sudden jerk on my leg one time. I also used to experience sleep paralysis 2 years before. This one is scary, I hallucinated that I was being pulled off my bed but for some reason the "fall" didn't hurt. I was tracing how far "it" had dragged me off my bed then realized I was being pulled to the door. That's when I woke up, really heavily as if I was woken up after anesthesia. Another time I was really sleepy and slept late but my body reacted to the time I was supposed to wake my sister up. I felt like a rock as I dragged my body off my bed to my sister's and with great effort shook her awake. After that I went back to my bed and landed with a bang.
