STOCKHOLM: A leading Swedish newspaper on Saturday said the country would not apologise for the recent publication of a Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) cartoon, which has inflamed devout Muslims around the world.

Dagens Nyheter said in an editorial, Sweden “has a duty from now on to defend its principles and present an open dialogue”.

It said offended Muslims would not receive the apologies they were asking for.

Swedish newspaper Nerikes Allehanda published a blasphemous cartoon on August 18 to illustrate an editorial on self-censorship and freedom of expression and religion.

The Kabul Times, a religious Afghani newspaper, published on Saturday an article by religious leaders expressing their indignation at this “provocation”, according to Swedish press agency TT.

The paper does not need to apologize for a single thing. However the ridiculous idiots that threatened death and destruction the last time around for printing cartoons of mohammed do need to apologize and either go about protesting in a civil manner as they have the right to, or move to a country that fits their personal belief system.

I would never even think of moving to iran and opening up a porn/liquer store because I realize that it goes against the countries belief system. I am fine with that and I could care less what they feel is appropriate in their own country. I do however have a problem when people move to a different country and wish to impose their beliefs on another persons established freedom.

Good for Sweden.... :tu:

I hope the tide is turning....and Western Societies start defending their own cultures more

strongly....otherwise we'll be going down a very slippery slope.

I agree! I,m a Christian who has seen jokes about Jesus and some are funny, some IMO arn,t! But i am not going to demand an apology every time i don,t like something someone else says or thinks! We all need to just lighten up a little and not take this whole PC movement to the extreme! That becomes annoying and offensive as well! People all over the world are going to have different points of views and their sense of humor is going to differ from others! So what! Thats what freedom of choice is about, and like the old saying goes, You can,t please all the people all the time! So good for them!:tu:

Tolerance is not a one way street. If they demand tolerance they first have to exercise it.

If that happened in the UK, we'd have changed our laws in an instant >.> Our gov't has no backbone or common sense.

Glad to see Swedon standing up to the petty-ness of islamic demands.

Shame.. could be a good market. Sounds just what the Iranians need, a good drink and some porn.

They have liquor in Iran and probably porn too despite the current prohibitions on both.

Unfortunately, Mr. Mark, most don't share your opinion. Both the West and the Islamic worlds have been brought up to be populated by a race of thin-skinned victims. We now believe we have a right not to be offended.

To heck with suicide bombing and political subversion... all that the Islamists have to do is find a few more like her and get a publishing deal with some girly magazines, and the Caliphate's future is assured. :P

Do you mean to say that if they apologize after inciting murder it should be OK?

The minimum if you ask me should be 5-10 without possibility of parole.
