We all have a concept of time. We need a certain amount of night and day in a cycle to be able to properly function. Though there are some days, for me at least, that it is possible to become stuck in a moment of present time. Within that moment, one can appreciate the pure experience of a single moment. When these moments strike me, though I must admit they do not strike me as much in my older years, as they used to do within my younger years. But the memory of such haecceity inwardly inspires me to pay closer attention and listen more actively.
Let that moment intertwine you. Allow your mind to go peek at what summons you to feel stuck in that moment. Because when that moment is gone, you may not remember.
And when you try to tease out the memory from your mind, your mind becomes blank.
I've had that many times, when I am struck with a sudden thought, a quite profound thought of which tempts me to believe that I know the meaning of Life, or at least something of great importance to Humankind. It is within that moment, for a few seconds that I am too in awe of feeling a pure experience, that I tell myself, 'I will remember this.' And as soon as those words form in my mind, I am no longer in mental possession of what just happened. I try to recall and it only makes me feel more distant... far too distant to ever recall that single moment of a pure experience.
I am sure there is a scientific term for this. I am sure that maybe someone actually has figured it all out, as to why, when and how it occurs. That is all cool and nifty; however, what I find most amazing is that something so multifarious happens to us -all-.
The next time haecceity happens, forget about remembering and just utterly enjoy that moment of awe. Then share your story. It is very cool to show your excitement and quite a conversation starter;)

The awareness of these moments is consciousness pre-thought, pre-linguistic, pure consciousness without the intellect inserting itself to describe the moment in words and applying names and categories.
I think this kind of awareness is what enlightenment is as described in Buddhism and other ways of liberation. J. Krishnamurti describes this state of attention as the ending of knowledge.
