Have you herd about the cyber war between Russia and Estonia? Estonia is dependent on their internet for everthing and russia is harming them by messing it up. Could this be what war looks like in the future. If it is then the millitary will no longer be needed and the new weapon of mass destruction will be this..

The internet is information, information is power.

WELL DHUU

Indeed, that will be one of the main front lines of any future war. It already is to a certain extent, but we are only poised to see an increased significance of information warfare.

Best,

Badeskov

In this tech age, everything from business transactions, stock trading, studies to communication is dependant on techonology and internet. A simple glitch can cause damage to businesses and people. If someone decide to sabotage a city's internet network....

It is very intersting to note that on the day of exams at my school, someone was able to sabotage our who network and no one could take exams. It revealed how dependent we are on the Internet. We depend on it not only for work, but for fun and communication, too.

most people have forgotten about this, however, George Bush is STILL monitoring all international phone calls and STILL has tagged words in emails.

I happen to be from Estonia. And yes, you wouldn't be wrong if you said that we rely on the internet much. That kind of technology is advanced and used a lot here. Pretty much everyone have a computer and internet here. I can't name a single classmate who does not. We can vote on the internet, which isn't a very wide-spread feature in most countries, as just an example. What the Russians did was that they attacked the webpages of major companies and institutions, such as banks, which caused some of them to crash for a short period of time. The attacks came from both personal and national IPs in Russia. They didn't manage to cause much harm, we also had help from other countries.

In my opinion cyber war will be an important part of war in the future, but it definately wont replace bombs and troops.
