So, the reading is about familiar scenarios or situations, and both sides really want to believe, and/or be proved right...  And I'm guessing the results will be based on focusing on the ones that are right, or that are nearly right, or that can be twisted or turned to sort of be right.  And the terms used are often vague, dreamy and odd/unrelated (so they require that metaphorical twisting..).  I reckon I could get a close to 100% match on what was just said.. but about MY situation.

As has been pointed out, there are ways to be scientific about this.  But  I see not much interest here to apply any methodical and properly thought out approach to this - because it will spoil the fun, I suspect!

I would REALLY love to hear some comments, even discussion, from both sides about the following concepts:

Confirmation Bias

Cherry Picking of Data

The concept of 'Falsifiability'

If I see an acknowledgement that these are absolutely applicable here, and that they must (and CAN) be taken into account and/or tested for, then I'll get interested.  (And there are several other issues being ignored - those are just the start..)

My heart skipped a beat. Literally.

My uncle is famous, he rides motorbikes in america. He took my mother and I in his helicopter for a joy flight.
When I was young, yes.
Always,
When I was born, my mother saw a spirit/ghost next to me bed area.
I'm indeed a water baby, I love the beach.
I got caught in a rip on Christmas.
My brother is 14 xP I'll get back to you on that one
I was in Central Sydney for the first time yesterday, well the first time with friends.
I can't pull the handbreak down on dads car, the one I'm learning to drive in.
My mother loves mustangs.
My close cousin, she stayed with me at my grandmothers house when I got kicked out.

That was.. amazing. Tell me how you did it?
The internet is a series of tubes, and those tubes are full of cats.

The vast majority of that is very general, it is cold reading. A lot of stuff he could have also easily enough guessed

If that's true then it's very good.

This is how reading works, it lets you fill in the gaps.

The generalist statement:

Quote

first I got a small personal airplane...you rode in ..someone close to you has it? I feel

You assigned a helicopter ride to it. She didn't mention helicopters. He even gave multiple options for the answer. And to be fair, that could cover most a great many people I know, lots of holiday destinations for example do helicopter tours.

Cold reading is very well known in psychology as a trick and is very common amongst "psychics", all general nothing specific.

As pointed out, the word helicopter wasn't used...  I love aircraft, a close family member is a pilot, and one of my happiest moments involved a chopper flight (and whales - it's a long story)...

In fact, let me have a go at all of them:

first I got a small personal airplane...you rode in ..someone close to you has it?
As I said, a family member flies commercially, and his travels very directly affect my life in a number of ways, plus there was a life-changing moment for me in a chopper some years back.

I feel a fascination with crosses...
I find discussions of religion very interesting, a very close friend has recently 'found' religion in a big way, and I played several rounds of noughts and crosses just two days ago!

Head in the clouds...
I'm most definitely a dreamer, plus I study meteorology and cloud patterns - used to run a registered weather station as part of my job...

picture of women on stand next to bed...
No comment... :w00t:

beach bum, surfs up
May be gettin' a bit past it, but I'm an avid beachgoer, fisher, swimmer, snorkeler, body surfer (check my location)

brother in national guard...i get guard?
Not a brother, but a close friend is serving in conflicted zones.  I guess you could say he was like a brother to me..

something to do with city life?
Worked in inner city until recently - didn't like commuting.

a pull down lever ..having problems with
red car/ mustang..
This one's funny - let's just say a personal project of mine isn't a Mustang, but the colour is near enough and it has problems with (more than) a few of its levers and buttons..

who is veronica? spelling on this..same sound
I don't know a Veronica, but I can think of two things important to me that rhyme reasonably closely, one VERY closely ...

So there's a pretty perfect match, yet it wasn't for me! - I invite others to try...  I think you'll get the picture.

Sorry but coldreading is very much known as a technique, even if you don't know you are doing it, that is what you have done.

If you are going to give vague statements that anyone could do, you are not doing anything that anyone could do. It is a well known trick of the "psychic trade". It is meant as an insult to you, but neither does it change what you are doing.

Ok I was told before I give cold readings. I would like to post a read and the response and let's tear the read apart and really see what is cold and what is not. I think this is fair.

If it matters, I think you did GREAT!! This is why no one wants to take the challenge. They throw around the "cold reading" like it's a dirty word. They call it vague if you don't see every detail. The truth is that we see what we see and we don't even know why, it connects to the people's lives that we read where it wouldn't connect to anyone else. A real professional reader that gets everything right, every time won't come here and do this, they are too busy making money or being Mother Theresa. Don't let it get you down, you have some real talent. Some people like to wrap things in a box but this is not one of those things you can.

I find it rather interesting that she was happy with her reading until a well respected uber skeptic tore it up and then wasn't very successful in doing so. It would not fit everyone.
