Still Waters Posted October 28, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 28, 2015 Tuberculosis now ranks alongside HIV as the world's most deadly infectious disease, the World Health Organization (WHO) says. Each accounted for between 1.1 million and 1.2 million deaths in 2014. The WHO said the tuberculosis figures were unacceptable for a disease that could be cured. http://www.bbc.co.uk...health-34658015

bubblykiss Posted October 28, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 28, 2015 My son got his pertussis, tuberculosis and tetanus booster just yesterday! My nephews aren't vax'd because, mom is a hippy and won't do it just to spite my brother....I don't think she is smart enough to understand herd immunity is the only thing keeping her kids safe.
Ashotep Posted October 28, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 28, 2015 From the link in the OP. She added: "We're losing ground in the battle to control drug-resistant forms of TB, and without considerable corrective action, the vast majority of people with multi-drug resistant TB won't ever be diagnosed, put on treatment, or cured." This is what's scary.

baobei Posted October 29, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 29, 2015 What's sad is the medical establishment and livestock industries have overused antibiotics to the point where these resistant strains have developed. Doctors, in the past, have handed out antibiotics like candy, even if you had a viral infection, like the common cold. My friend, in the 90s would get his doctor to prescribe them to him. I told him it wouldn't do anything for his cold. He didn't listen.

As a result the TB becomes resistant to them. This happened a lot in India.
Still Waters Posted October 29, 2015 Author #8 Share Posted October 29, 2015 My dad had TB, but it was a long time ago even before I came along. He had to have glands removed from one side of his neck because of it, it left him with a scar.
