Tucker Bounds, a McCain spokesman, was interviewed on CNN tonight and stated Sarah Palin is qualified to be VP because she is the Governor of Alaska, was a member of the schools PTA and she was commander of Alaskas National Guard. He states her being commander of the national guard qualifies her on foreign affairs.

When does being a member of the PTA qualify one to be vice president of the United States?

I can't imagine being in charge of children is a far stretch from being in charge at senate. tongue.gif

Choosing between a PTA mom and someone with years in the senate, I would go with the senate experience.

Are you supporting the freshman senator from Illinois that hasn't yet completed his first term in the Senate? Mmmmmkay.

When a desperate candidate is ready to play politics with a Hail Mary pass, regardless of what's in the best interests of the nation. Hell, even Karl Rove agrees:

Quote

Republican strategist Karl Rove said on Face The Nation Sunday that he expects presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama to choose a running mate based on political calculations, not the person's readiness for the job.

"I think he's going to make an intensely political choice, not a governing choice," Rove said. "He's going to view this through the prism of a candidate, not through the prism of president; that is to say, he's going to pick somebody that he thinks will on the margin help him in a state like Indiana or Missouri or Virginia. He's not going to be thinking big and broad about the responsibilities of president."

Rove singled out Virginia governor Tim Kaine, also a Face The Nation guest, as an example of such a pick.

"With all due respect again to Governor Kaine, he's been a governor for three years, he's been able but undistinguished," Rove said. "I don't think people could really name a big, important thing that he's done. He was mayor of the 105th largest city in America."

Rove continued: "So if he were to pick Governor Kaine, it would be an intensely political choice where he said, `You know what? I'm really not, first and foremost, concerned with, is this person capable of being president of the United States?

Bravo, Karl.

That last part that I bolded is hilarious. Every governor is head of their state's National Guard, and unless we find ourselves living in a re-make of the movie Red Dawn, that's going to be more or less meaningless.

As for PTA, weren't Republicans attacking Obama for having only the Presidency of the Harvard Law Association as his main executive experience before the campaign? Hilarity upon hilarity.
