He can see in even sharper wave lengths of light like x-ray or gamma-ray or something. Plus, you only see the front of his eyes, they actually taper all the way back to the rear of his skull, like telescopes.

H knew it was them because Merry dropped the leaf and it was easy to spot them because from the dust

Just a book? NO, NO, it is true, it really happened, because I say it did.

I don't recall JRR specifying that elf irises are the exact same size and shape as human irises.

There is a scene in the book when he first spots Eomer from some distance away. That's what they're going off of.

As I also seem to recall elves don't die unless killed with physical violence or weariness.

I would imagine that is a far more pressing question to answer.

Why are Elves living so long unless they are depressed?

And what causes Post Elven Depression Syndrome? Are we working on anti-PEDS drugs to keep our Elves safe? Or are we just shipping them to *the west* and making them into somebody else problems?

These, my friends, are the questions that matter.

Not if Elven need glasses to spot orcish height differences when riding worgs.

There is a special part of an elf's iris called a "plot device"... It lets them see pretty much what the author wants them to at any distance...
