Still Waters Posted May 5, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 5, 2014 It's not something that you would expect to find on the eighth hole - a huge rodent usually found in South America. The 4ft long creature was filmed by startled golfers on March 20 wondering what the animal could be. http://www.telegraph...olf-course.html
:PsYKoTiC:BeHAvIoR: Posted May 5, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 5, 2014 Groundhogs over there are getting bigger every year! Haha. It's kind of cute though.
EllJay Posted May 5, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 5, 2014 Capybara are anacondas favorite "dish". I hope they don't have any of those on the loose in Essex.
Frank Merton Posted May 5, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 5, 2014 You notice how calm about it all the golfers were. In spite of its size, it doesn't have the ratlike features that make us fear and detest rats, and its behavior is calm and even friendly if it knows you. jamesjr191 Posted May 5, 2014 #6 Share Posted May 5, 2014 I wonder if it can be taught to fetch balls from the ponds?
Frank Merton Posted May 5, 2014 #7 Share Posted May 5, 2014 I think probably (indeed almost certainly) so. Problem is it might swallow them.
Jilliman Posted May 5, 2014 #8 Share Posted May 5, 2014 Awww! Poor baby! I bet it was someone's pet! Capybaras are really sweet animals! Kinda like giant guinea pigs!
Taun Posted May 5, 2014 #9 Share Posted May 5, 2014 I thought this article would have been about a sighting of a politician on a golf course... but then... that's their natural habitat...
Crabby Kitten Posted May 5, 2014 #10 Share Posted May 5, 2014 That was a cheeky creature. Up to no good by the looks of it.

Bendy Demon Posted May 5, 2014 #12 Share Posted May 5, 2014 In spite of its size, it doesn't have the ratlike features that make us fear and detest rats. Hmmm..I don't fear or detest rats myself but I think capybaras are really neat looking. It's like a combination of a guinea pig, hippo and hamster. It's odd to realize that it IS a rodent. It'd be kind of neat to have one as a pet.
xYlvax Posted May 5, 2014 #13 Share Posted May 5, 2014 They should adopt the capybara as a mascot.
PlanB Posted May 5, 2014 #14 Share Posted May 5, 2014 Apparently, since capybaras spend so much time in the water, the Catholic Church counts them as fish so that they can be eaten during lent. Perhaps this guy's an escaped entree from a couple week's back?
