The USA press core.

The usa press core is not doing it's job when it comes to the government.

The founding fathers gave us freedom of the press to keep the government in line, not to choose sides.

There isn't any press that isn't choosing sides in the usa. The cable and net work press is the worse at this. Of the three cable fox, cnn and msnbc they all choose sides. One goes republicans the other two go democrat. The worse offender being msnbc, in their eyes demacrats can do no wrong and republicans can do no right.

We need to get them to doing their jobs right.

I agree. Politics in the U.S. has shifted to the conservatives and the liberals with no compromize to middle ground, and I think journalism has followed the politicians lead in this.

These days I don't know where to go to get factual, unbiased news. I suppose it doesn't exist.

Just look to multiple sources. I like theblaze a lot, Glenn Becks site. Often times I'll compare the big stories there to the same story on HuffPo. Sometimes they're similar, sometimes they are different. The differences are usually the editors tone and bias, and if it's just a so so negative story about democrats theblaze will usually have more details and quotes whereas the HuffPo will give the gist with much to be desired. Mostly just take it all in and use your best judgement to form an opinion.

It really is sad how biased our press has gotten. MSNBC blasts the Conservatives while FOX blasts the liberals....

Whatever happened to unbiased, objective Journalism?

Americans' distrust in the media hit a new high this year, with 60% saying they have little or no trust in the mass media to report the news fully, accurately, and fairly. Distrust is up from the past few years, when Americans were already more negative about the media than they had been in years prior to 2004.

The record distrust in the media, based on a survey conducted Sept. 6-9, 2012, also means that negativity toward the media is at an all-time high for a presidential election year. This reflects the continuation of a pattern in which negativity increases every election year compared with the year prior. The current gap between negative and positive views -- 20 percentage points -- is by far the highest Gallup has recorded since it began regularly asking the question in the 1990s. Trust in the media was much higher, and more positive than negative, in the years prior to 2004 -- as high as 72% when Gallup asked this question three times in the 1970s.

This year's decline in media trust is driven by independents and Republicans. The 31% and 26%, respectively, who express a great deal or fair amount of trust are record lows and are down significantly from last year. Republicans' level of trust this year is similar to what they expressed in the fall of 2008, implying that they are especially critical of election coverage.

The government pays their income with our money. The media will always be under their thumb.

Just a little nit-pick...it's corps not core, although the core of the corps is just as rotten as the Socialist Party.

I don't think, especially when it comes to politics, that there is or has been any such thing as objective journalism, and definitely never objective news companies.

I agree but I also will note that it has gotten very, very much more obviously biased in the last 3 decades. At least there used to be some semblance of objectivity and journalistic ethics. Now it's all entertainment and spin.

Like so many other things in this day and age, the media could be controlled by us. Just stop watching it, when the sponsors realize that no one is seeing their advertizing, they'll soon turn to a news service that is being watched, the one that tells it straight up. And if not enough people quit watching, it'll just go on and on and on.

I only watch my morning local news and the Daily Show (although Jon,IMO, has a slight liberal slant, he still manages to poke fun at both sides which usually is good for a laugh)
