Still Waters Posted March 21, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 21, 2015 A fishing boat skipper has claimed a submarine may have snagged itself in his nets off the Outer Hebrides. Angus Macleod said he and his four crew were "extremely lucky" after his net was continually dragged in front of his 62ft trawler. The Royal Navy has said there were no British or Nato submarines in the area at the time. http://www.bbc.co.uk...otland-31999657
stevewinn Posted March 21, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 21, 2015 (edited) A fishing boat skipper has claimed a submarine may have snagged itself in his nets off the Outer Hebrides. The Royal Navy has said there were no British or Nato submarines in the area at the time. http://www.bbc.co.uk...otland-31999657 The Royal Navy protocol is to surface if they spot trawlers. So avoiding this sort of incident - So whose sub was it? if it was a sub? could of been a Moby. There is a visit of an American sub visiting Faslane today. the US Navy's protocol is to dive the Sub. so running the risk of getting caught in the nets. but this seems to have been ruled out. Also visiting tomorrow but down in Portsmouth is the USS Winston S Churchill (Arleigh Burke Destroyer DDG-81) Along USS Theodore Roosevelt. (CVN-71) Super Carrier. I hope someone on the forum from Portsmouth goes along to have a look, and get a few photos. Edited March 21, 2015 by stevewinn

Sir Wearer of Hats Posted March 21, 2015 #11 Share Posted March 21, 2015 Megalodon That's normally how the movies start isn't it? Odd sightings, mysterious encounters some with lucky escapes etc. More likely (although again with the lucky escape bit for the fishermen) it was one of the Russian North Sea Navy, which IS on "war games" maneuvers off that very coast. DeeSember Posted March 23, 2015 #15 Share Posted March 23, 2015 The Royal Navy has said there were no British subs? There is one British sub that remains unaccounted for. Varelse Posted March 24, 2015 #16 Share Posted March 24, 2015 #1 rule of war games is "don't talk about war games". Even if we think the subs were accounted for who really knows? It's being blown off because they never should have gotten that close. Some heads could roll.
