Sleep paralysis

Curious to hear if anyone else has had this experience. I've experienced sleep paralysis quite a bit since childhood. Seems to come and go, mostly happens in the early mornings when I'm sleeping on my back. When I was a kid I would always have hallucinations, like shadows, my stuffies moving around in my closet, weird beings. Now that I'm old I dont ever experience the hallucinations, however I hear things. Mostly voices, whispering or walking around.

You hear a lot about visual stuff but has anyone else ever hear anything?

Oh yeah, I have heard some of the strangest things in the inbetween places.

It's almost more terrifying then seeing things, because at least with visual things I can usually tell that its not actually there. With just sounds its so hard to tell which are real and which are not!

There's a lot of threads on here about SP so you have some good reading here offered on that!! I had this SP (my mother called them Night Terrors) as a child too. It's not fun  I never saw anything strange. I just remember not being able to move. It's the worst feeling ever and very scary! <---especially for a kid!

I think the other threads have some great links to articles with the explanation to why this happens.

It's definitely weird tho.

You don't have to be terrified. I know its hard but if you relax and have an inquisitive attitude and sort of dive into the experience you can change the nature of what is happeneing.

Same thing happened to me. I've been having sleep paralysis for years now and it still happens almost every time I sleep on my back. Although just the other night it happened when I was sleeping on my side. I've seen shadow people numerous times, witches, demon like things, people, kids, lights and all kinds of scary ****. But the last few years I haven't really been seeing many things but still hear **** all the time. Mostly I hear noises of someone or something walking around or of like knocking noises. But I've also heard my name said a lot and have just heard what sounds like people talking to each other and sometimes something trying to talk to me but I either don't remember what was said or I couldn't understand it at the time. I no longer get to scared when I have sleep paralysis, I've kinda learned to control my fear and I kinda think that's why I don't see things anymore and I'm starting to hear things less and less often. I still wake up and can't move which sucks, it also seems like I don't have as hard a time breathing as I use to, now that I'm not as scared. Also, I'm not crazy or insane, I don't hear voices or any **** like that, I just seem to wake up unable to move and still "dreaming" as that's what ppl now say sleep paralysis kinda is. Although im starting to question if sleep paralysis really happens during rem sleep because I've looked at the clock before I've gone to sleep and after I've woken up from sleep paralysis and I haven't had enough time to enter rem sleep, according to everything I could find online about rem sleep. Everything I've read says it takes about 90 min of sleep to finally reach rem sleep.

It's different for everyone, and depends on how much sleep you have had.

I was asleep in my parents bedroom one noon when I head someone whistled. It was loud and clear. I didn't mind it because I was just too sleepy until I felt the bed shift as if someone stood in it. I thought it was my mom. It took three steps and I could a feel presence near my ear (cause I was sleeping on my side) and I felt a tingly eerie sensation throughout my body. I tried opening my eyes but I can't.I even tried shouting but my voice won't come out. I could feel its breath on my ear. I began moving my toes and I was so relieved that it moved. With one swift move, I opened my eyes and jerked my body towards my front but saw no one. I asked my mom but she said she was in the kitchen all the time. It felt so real and I know I was already awake when that incident happened.

Very common you will be alright. Don't dwell to much on it and if it happens again don't fight or be afraid ( I know it's hard), just try to relax and see where it takes you. :)

I understand. It's part of our wiring to guess the Lyon in the grass and its part of the problem. If you can understand that it's all part of your anima, you can rise above it. Consider it a challenge.

I've had at least 100 time waking up with sleep paralysis. Most time I am being attacked or die in my dreams yet when I awaken I can still hear and feel those in my dreams a few time even see them. Only time I am able to move is I literally four on anger and I feel my body again which I assume is due to the blood heating me up. First time it happened I had a dream I ran through a warehouse , up the stairs and out a door all awhile being chased by some man, I slammed through the door and into a alley in broad daylight in I think Manhattan , I turned back to the man who had a stitched face and what I think we're mechanical claws and he started choking me , when I awoke my closet door was swinging and I had a hanger around my neck and it was tightening it self.

I have sleep paralysis frequently and at one point, I was getting it every night. I've tried to stop fearing it and just let it pass by not opening my eyes. Of course, this leads to me hearing things instead.. I've heard children laughing, static noises, music playing (from current music on the radio, to creepy music played on a record player), and once, I heard my sister talking to me but she wasn't in the house. The children laughing probably creeped me out the most.
